Average User Score: 9.0Jul 11, 2014Great first episode. Great music, great art, great story, and great dialog. Only gripe with the game is that it is too good and I felt there could have been more choices but Telltale are really defining a new genre.
I also grew with Monkey Island and the other greats at the time but I can see that what Telltale is doing is different. The game is more akin to those choose your own adventure books than to a true adventure game. And if you see it in this light then you can trully enjoy it for what it is, a great semi-interactive story.
And the choices you have to make are quite good, only very rarely I felt like I couldn't choose what I wanted to choose which has been a problem even with Monkey Island. Like for instance a character gives you sob story and I wanted to say: I believe you, you can go. But I didn't get that choice which can feel constricting at times but that was really only 1 time during the episode.
Overall, highly recommended.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.1May 29, 2014Great game, real F2P system in that everything you can buy for money you can buy for in-game cache. And new robes and stuff only redistribute your stats in the different schools of magic so if you play against someone that has dropped a bill and also played for a few months you will have the same exact stats.
Gameplay is incredible, if a little bit hard to get into. You will die a lot but dying in this game is not very detrimental and consequently the community is pretty stellar unlike LoL. Once you know what you are doing and you start playing against others that know what they are doing the game gets incredibly tense with some duels lasting for more than a minute going back and ford. It is insane.
The other great side is that it is all about skill. Absolutely everything has a counter and there are so many spells and so many different strategies and the action is so fast and fluid that it can be breathtaking.
Graphics are great and super fluid, you never feel constrained chaining complex combos and doing crazy stuff. Sounds are pretty good as well.
Only problem with the game(hence the 9) is that social features are virtually non-existant as well as any bells and whistles when logging into the client. No stats screens, game history, or nothing.
And finally the servers have been down a lot and even if they are up it literally will take you like 10-20 minutes to get a 5 minute game. The developers have been very forthcoming and great(ive been around since alpha) so I can let it slide but if it doesn't get fixed soon I will have to lower my score dramatically.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.9Jan 1, 2014it computer games one of the rarest things is when everything come together flawlessly. you know those incredible games with incredible gameplay but bad graphics, or the ones with incredible graphics but bad story, etc. etc. well, in freespace 2 everything just came together and you don't have to make a single sacrifice to enjoy it. flawless victory!… Expand
Average User Score: 8.7Dec 4, 2013An incredible game. But for the right people. If you do not have a good 10 hours just to barely learn the basics and maybe survive for 100 years then you should probably look elsewhere. Also the goal of the game is to really just survive, so if you are thinking of expanding and taking over the whole map then I would suggest going for Europa Universalis 4. In this game while you might take over half of Europe and beat back the Muslim horders, in 20 years you might be lucky if you've got like 2 provinces somewhere in Norway praying your nephew doesn't imprison you and execute you.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.3Apr 25, 2013My first survival adventure game and I love it. Some people say it gets boring and repetitive after a while but I've already played 15 hours for 13$ and I had a blast. Now even if I never played it again I still think that 80c an hour is pretty good value And with the promised updates I am pretty sure I will try it at least for a few more hours with every update and as far as I know there are like 6 of them coming. But frankly I see myself playing it at least a couple more times in the next few days since I only got to day 28... 7 days into a surprise winter. I tought winter will come like at day 150 or something … Expand
Average User Score: 8.5Mar 6, 2013I was not too excited about the newest Tomb Raider but I was pleasantly surprised. The graphics are pretty good and smooth altough there were times where the game will hiccup at some of the heavy action sequences which should not be happening with my rig, you know i7 with sli and all that jazz. But some of the action was just breathtaking with storms, fires, tens of bad guys shooting fire arrows from all sides, and whatnot. I loved the art direction, the stuns, the enviroments, clothing, enemy design, etc.
As any TR game there was a lot of action and it was executed very well. I liked the shooting part of the game, the bow, the gun feel. It could of been a bit slower imo and also there doesnt need to be so much ammo lying everywhere, I might have run out of ammo maybe 2 times on medium on 1 gun only. For a survival game that is not very realistic.
The puzzles were pretty good but not too hard, and with survival sense it is very clear what you need to do at all times. There were a few cool puzzles but they were buried deep in optional tombs. And this is the only downside of the game is that I wish the puzzles were a little bit harder, not like the first and second part where it can take you a day to figure just one puzzle out but still There also were pretty much no traps and clever tomb designs... you know typical adventure stuff like arrows from walls, falling celing if you step on the wrong stone, swinging axes, etc.
The story is pretty gripping helped by the great henchmen designs altough it is too much like Far Cry but I guess they did develop the games simultaniously so I doubt they plagiarized. The actor that played Croft was pretty stellar, and also very hot, and the voiceovers were actually quite good.
Overall, I feel the game was an 8 with points being deducted for some gfx hiccups here and ther, as well as abundance of ammo that made the fighting a bit too easy. Lack of complex puzzles, and any kind of environment contraptions was also a bit disappointing seeing this is a TOMB raider game after all. Bearing all this in mind, the puzzles that are in there are rather good, the art direction is top notch, the fighting is fast and fluid, and it is all held together by a good story, acting, and voice overs. Overall I say buy this and have yourself some fun.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.9Nov 21, 2012I'm a big fan of the series. I am 5 missions in and it absolution has been a bit disappointing. I really don't care about the story, only about the hits. And the hits have been pretty bad until now. There really has been only 1 mission out of 5 that you actually get to do a hit. First mission you play for like 45 minutes so you can get to the target and a cutscene cuts in (excuse the pun) and you watch while he actually kills the target. That pretty much has been the most anti-climatic mission end in the whole series, and possibly in gaming lol.
Since the disguise system is abysmal, the levels are pretty linear, the game feels more like a stealth puzzle rather than a sandbox hitman game. You just can't improvise and do a hit that it is your own... not that the levels are actual hits mind you. First lvl cutscene hits, second lvl is the only true hit, third level you play to get to a shaft, fourth level is about running on rails from the cops, and so on and so forth.
Next no weapons selection before the level which makes sense since the levels are so linear it wouldn't make sense to let you bring something that will break said linearity.
In essence, you do no true hits, highly linear, bad disguese system, bad save system. All in all it is a pretty frustrating puzzle game where you have to replay long stretches for the smallest mistake.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.9Nov 22, 2011New to the series, I just bought the game on Steam. I love city building and don't know how I missed the series but Blue Byte caught my attention. They made the original Settlers which was an all-time favorite with all its short comings. Anyhow, the only bad thing about the game is that I just played for 10 hours straight and have no idea how I will wake up for work tomorrow. Just fabulous! It is intuitive, easy, and deep as a city builder can get. I suggest you just play Continuous Game rather than the missions. Have fun!… Expand
