GKMC is close to a masterpiece - from lyrics, concepts, beats, features, structures to skits - everything is on point. Name another rap album that have included such a thorough, well-executed and structured story. It's like a "short film" as the cover art says. It makes you imagine the songs scenes in your head. Every song is so deep and striking - even Swimming Pools, despite it's mainstream feel.
A lot of rappers, e.g. Game, Dr. Dre, rap about the life of Compton, it's a common theme on West Coast hip hop, and Kendrick knew that, so he delivered his view of his home city in such a diverse and original way. In recent years there haven't been any hip hop albums that can be labelled as a "classic", but good kid, m.A.A.d city is almost one. This album deserves all the props that it receives, because there won't be an album like this coming again any time soon.… Expand

Lyrics + themes are so generic, repetitive beat patterns - it's all been heard and used hundreds of times before, so what's so special about Finally Rich? Hooks are whack, as are Keef's lyrics. The features (50 Cent, Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, Young Jeezy + Rick Ross) are less than useless. They just add more salt to the wound.
The only decent tracks are "I Don't Like" and "Love Sosa", while "Laughing to the Bank" is the most annoying and trashy rap songs I have ever heard. Overall there's nothing justifiable about this album. Worst of all, the album was released just months after the hype. The label must've thought it was a good marketing scheme but the album only charted at no. 29 in the US. I see that the direction is trap rap/party rap, but Keef could've at least put in a bit more effort into it.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.7Dec 5, 2012Without a doubt Life Is Good is The Best Hip Hop Album of 2012 (trailing alongside Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city). The standardWithout a doubt Life Is Good is The Best Hip Hop Album of 2012 (trailing alongside Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city). The standard edition of 14 tracks are so soulful and diverse, while the extra 4 tracks are definitely worth the extra purchase - which includes one of the best rap songs of 2011, "Nasty".
Illmatic will never repeat itself - that phase is long gone. Because this album is so recent it won't be stated as a classic but compared to nearly every other rap album coming out recently it is by far an astonishingly great record. Each beat is on point, lyrics are on point and the features give themselves justice. There are no songs to skip for me, I can listen to "Summer On Smash" even though it ain't the best song on the album.
For me the top 3 best tracks are Loco-Motive, Accident Murderers and World's An Addiction. But every track is outstanding. There is truly nothing negative to say about this album.… Expand
