First of all the tiny font will make you squint in order to see ANY text in the entire game, from start to finish, in a 1080p res, even with a very large monitor. If you want to scale to 1440 or 4k, forget about it. You will have to use a lower resolution than your monitor is designed for.
The combat is poorly implemented. Too many restrictions and "time outs" that lead to auto-losses even against the AI make the game a hassle.
At least in the Elven campaign, even simple things like unit icons are done wrong. Pike units look like sword units. Sword units look like pike units. More than once I chose the wrong unit to separate from the army and had to re-load for the umpteenth time to get right. Once again, the font being so small makes this more of an issue. Can't rely on the text, can't rely on the icons. What can you rely on?
You can rely on early encounters that are annoying as hell, where all the enemy units are either range AND melee, or include a mega-armored unit that no matter what, you will lose one of your precious early units to. If you try to work around with maneuver, you will time out and lose the battle.
Although there is an option for 'confirm end turn' in the options, it does nothing to prevent an actual errant click of 'end turn' button on the screen. Just let us use the keybind. Really don't need an on-screen button for this. Why do you still do this?
This game seems to be to be made by developers who could potentially make a great game, but lack common sense and instead end up with a crumby experience that is not ready.
Save your money, honestly, even games like Elven Legacy are better than this.
These issues should never be around in this day and age of gaming.… Expand

Zack Zero does 2.5D platforming very well, in the vein of Trine, with the suit as the changeling instead of 3 characters. Attacks and combat is satisfying, the puzzles are intuitive and there are some nice hidden areas to search for, physics are not quite on the level of Trine2 but are solid and fit the game nicely. Graphics are bright and vibrant, something like Zeno Clash meets The Incredibles. Zack and the overall character ensemble comes across as eye-rollingly stereotypical, save the girl, damsel in distress tropes. However they seem to have fun with knowing that and running with it tongue-in-cheek, very much like Orcs Must Die, and in fact the story is presented exactly the same as OMD, with nicely drawn still shots narrated over between levels, moving the story forward.
I found no bugs, crashes, framerate issues, or problems installing. Length of the game is medium and there are Steam acheivements to go after.
The main issue so far is controller support did not work with my controller at all. Forced to use keyboard, I almost gave up on it before I started. Thankfully, I tried it, and the kb only (no mouse) setup worked nicely and I was quickly traversing the world with ease. 2 hands on the kb does cause some wrist pain during long sessions, and I am left to wonder if the experience would be that much better on a controller. For this reason, I have to bump the score down to an 8. Any fan of some solid 2.5D platform physics puzzler will enjoy Zack Zero.… Expand

The visuals are stunningly beautiful, vivid, and breathtaking, every animation looks great, the controls are totally spot-on. Coop and great dlc round out the experience. You can play Trine games in many different styles and they are all fun. Blow by everything as fast as possible, swinging along, kill everything with the warrior, or plod along carefully with the wizard, picking up every bubble collectable in and out of sight. Of course, most of the time you are doing a mix of the 3.
Hard to say why this isn't a 10/10, because Trine does everything right and then some. But, maybe something was missing a very small something, that I can't put my finger on. Trine 2 is well deserving of anyone's time (and money).… Expand

The grapics are great, especially in snowy conditions, in first person mode it looks quite real. The gameplay is great, the controls vary perfectly between tight and delayed based on the type of skis you choose, the courses are great, if only not enough of them... There are savable replays so you can watch your performance from many camera angles, and race against many ghost times, and you can customize your skier in some gear (cosmetic only other than skis). This is an amazing, and fun game, and goes over really well with non-gamers or casual parties. It's hard to stop talking about how fun this game is, with the only negatives being that it is abandoned and the online features are disabled. Also, it would have been nice if there were a mode which moved the slalom sticks, so it wouldnt be the same course every time, or if you could do "free runs" or speed runs without slalom and see what kind of times you could get. Even as abandonware I have to give this a 10, and hope that the project gets rolling once again.… Expand

The gameplay is simple yet will have you using your wits and quick reflexes to navigate the levels and get the best times possible. I recommend casual mode to start, and get acquainted with the levels -there are a few real doozies. There's a scoreboard ladder for those who wish to climb it. For a couple of bucks, this is good, simple gameplay that's good fun and a real challenge.… Expand
