Summary: Game is fun, there's a good number of different rulesets, and the cards/abilities are different from other card games I've played.
--A refreshing challenge for a CCG (collectible card game) vet.
--Balanced play, a fair system of resource generation that doesn't feel pay-to-win (which is surprising considering most other card games are totally P2W when you think about it).
--Earning points is slow if you're not buying points, but it feels REALLY good to unlock a deck you earned.
--Varied Game types that aren't locked at any level, but may take time to build up to.
--Random shuffle programming they use is more random than fricking Magic The Gathering 2014.
--I loved the mix deck matches when I started because it shuffles both your decks together. So you get to play with their more varied cards and your own (also, it requires more thinking on your feet with the cards you get).
--Constructed deck matches are really interesting too. I suggest looking it up on youtube or try it after you download the game (practice mode).
--Some people quit when they start to lose, but they quit by dodging rather than concedeing. You still get the win and they still get the loss, but you have to wait 1 minute because it treats the quit like a disconnect. Can be annoying.
--It can be frustrating playing ranked matches because people frequently try to bum-rush you with death by speed rather than have a fun / drawn out game. Just prepare yourself to fight for your life in the first 8 turns.
--Finding a late night match tends to pit you against some crazy pros in the game.… Expand

Some things will not make sense because some choices are subjective to what the developers thought was the right choice tree, but overall there wasn't any real "wtf" moments for me.
Decent reply value, one play through will take several hours. I would say this is a good one to play with multiple people because you all will start with different starting genre's. Worth the $10 price point, if you can get it for less than that, it's a no brainer buy.… Expand

RPG elements for leveling fit very well into the game and the humor is feels very witty without bludgeoning you with the punchline (i.e. not American humor, more British/Monty Python).
There's a few references to pop culture elements that made me roll my eyes, but overall this game is fun and it's easy to pick up, run for a little bit then put down. The game/levels feel bigger than most AAA game levels.
Well written, well designed, well balanced. If you like Dungeons and Dragons, this game is one you'll want for the library.… Expand

There is very little PvP in the game, consider it mostly PvE where you join a group or try to solo instanced areas which seem to share almost the same layout. Levels are massive and filled with enemies, the storyline is non-existent and the community is about as childish as you'd expect. Not lasting fun if you play it without having a group of friends join you. Chat functionality sucks in this game, feels like it was designed in early 2000.
Game mechanics are balanced but challenging for level appropriate stuff. Solo missions are extremely difficult and you only get a certain number of revives (lives) per day which can be used if you die so that you dont' have to start the mission over from scratch. If you go into this with some friends and mostly just play with them, you'll have a lot of fun.
Typical Free-to-play setup for the game. Very much pay-to-win.… Expand

The sound track is amazing, the game play is so fun and never gets repetitive, and the characters (although I thought of them as just shapes in the start) develop over the story in a wonderful way. I found myself cheering for love, gasping when they were in trouble and cheering as I neared the end. This game hit the emotional chord that I can't even remember the last time a movie did..
Why? Because they aren't just shapes. They're people. They're dreams. They're family that we all know and love. Goddamnit, if you haven't gotten this or played it yet, three dollars during the steam sale will not account for the amount of joy you'll get out of this. The last time I felt this good playing and finishing a game was with the original Portal before anyone knew what it was about.… Expand

I can't say the last time I had such a blast playing an FPS game. The commentary from the game and from other players is fantastic, and it was just a blast. This is a must have for any LAN party for sure.
Like Alien vs. Predator but way better and more balanced. The dino abilities are a hoot, but offset by the fact that they need to get in close to use many of them. Learning the game was simple if you've played other fps games. Definitely worth money. Please remember that there's no real story mode that I've been able to find, it's similar to killing floor in that the game is just multilayer mayhem (using bots or other players).… Expand

Unlike many MMOs as you continue through the storylineThe game is a blast and for an MMO the game play, setting, and story is refreshing. Unlike many MMOs as you continue through the storyline you do feel that your character is taking a side in the world conflict.
I would say this game is designed with the target audience being experienced MMO players who are tired of hight fantasy MMOs and are looking for something different. While the game does not strictly put you into one of the basic classes (Tank, healer, DPS) because of the open ended ability wheel and being able to hot-swap what your character does, don't think this means it's a "classless" game. The community as well as how the game mechanics work will eventually lead you to building a set of abilities that basically makes you a tank, healer, or dps. However what is nice is the variety of combinations that you can use to achieve your goal makes leveling and unlocking new abilities and trying them out to see if one is better than another a real treat.
Endgame still has the same problems as any other MMO in that once you hit it and once you've gotten all the gear you want, there's basically nothing left to do but PVP and finish up the numerous little achievement goals they set out. I hit the cap about two months ago (been playing since release) and am finally to the point where I'm not playing the game every day.
The monthly updates makes sure that there's always a reason to keep your subscription going (or at least reactivate it ever two or three months).… Expand

I never got into the original X-com (just the user interface was so difficult/clunky to use). If anything I'd say the play style of Enemy Unknown is this beautiful merge of Final Fantasy Tactics (my favorite game of all time) game mechanics/character development with the story concept and resource management that people always praised the original X-Com about.
The various game modes, places you can put your base, and random encounter generator makes the game highly replayable too without getting dull or frustrating. Most of the story is told through actually playing the game, so you don't get overly long cut scenes that you have to sit through (and what cut scenes there are, are skippable).
There's what I'd call a bonus feature that it does have a multiplayer game where you and another player will be allocated a certain number of points to use to buy troops. Then fight one another. Reminded me a lot of any of the Clix games. Don't buy the game because it has multiplayer, get it because the single player experience is amazing.… Expand
