There's a lot of new content to discover and beat including four new maps, world events, WvW updates, character specializations and more. While it's been enjoyable to explore all of this new content for the first time, the mechanics by which one must get through the expansion (and the new story mode) is a bit convoluted and arbitrarily gated to slow people down from finishing it all.
For example, you cannot complete the new story missions in HoT without first grinding out a few of the new Masteries, essentially a new way to level certain abilities for players already at the highest level in the game (80). This may seem trivial to those who play the game daily and for hours on length, but it is much more frustrating for gamers who cannot dedicate daily time to Guild Wars 2. I've been slowly enjoying the story since the expansion released but, after getting through the first eight or so missions, I've been stuck from completing the next one until I grind two masteries in the Nuhoch branch. For me, the story was a bigger seller than the new PvE zones so I was disappointed the developers are forcing me to play content I don't particularly enjoy in order to progress with content that I DO enjoy.
Again, this will bother some people not at all and others much more. Also, it should be understood that a lot of the content in HoT is geared towards players being in groups, sometimes very large ones at that. Solitary and "lone-wolf" type players might find themselves struggling with the new content due to its difficulty and design for group-play rather than solo. I wish ANet had explained this a little better pre-release, but it is what it is. Just know that if you like going about the game mostly on your own, you may find scarce enjoyment in the expansion but plenty of frustration. If you're a group player, you'll like have a good time.… Expand

I've never played any of the other Elder Scrolls games since I'm not a huge RPG fan, but I saw the hype on the internet and among friends about Skyrim and decided I'd pick it up. Since doing that I've barely been able to put it down. In fact, the only reason I'm not playing it all the time is because I have a ton of school work to get done; otherwise, I'd be all over it. Skyrim has GOTY written all over it. Please, do NOT be discouraged if you aren't usually a fan of RPGs. I'm not either for the most part (the only exception before Skyrim was Mass Effect 1/2). However, Skyrim changed all that for me. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves games. This is a must-buy.… Expand

MW3 isModern Warfare 3 is the exact same game as Modern Warfare 2. That's not to say it's a bad game. In fact, that's far from the truth. MW3 is a fine game that will appeal to the same people who enjoyed MW2. However, there is not enough content in MW3 to justify it being released as an entirely new game in the franchise. Very little has changed from MW2 and the original MW. The graphics, impressive in 2007, are lack-luster and dated now, kill-streaks are still too big a part of the game (as they have been ever since MW2), there isn't enough emphasis on gun-on-gun gameplay, and the single-player is the shortest in the series (which is a shame considering I am someone who has enjoyed the storyline in the franchise). Simply put, MW3 adds barely anything new to the franchise and everything IW and Sledgehammer did add could have been patched or added into MW2.… Expand

I was never that great at it, but it was a ton of fun to play and it was a great break from the other primary FPS game I played, Call of Duty. Battlefield 3 pretty much improves everything from Bad Company 2 and is a fantastic multiplayer game. Now, unfortunately the single player is pretty dull and heavily scripted and is very linear, but the Battlefield franchise has always been about multiplayer, and this game definitely delivers on that front. Some hardcore Battlefield 2 fanboys are upset about changes from that game into Battlefield 3, but in all honesty this game looks amazing and feels amazing. If you are looking for a new multiplayer FPS game to satisfy you, look no farther. If you are already a Battlefield fan, this game is up there with the best in the series. Battlefield 3 goes above the call of duty.… Expand
