But the real problem is the gameplay that doesn't makes sense with the story and the plot and is a huge downgrade from the previous games. Extremely linear, brainless, simple, it has backtracking, many enemies (especially bosses) are there just for the sake of it and have nothing to do with the story and weren't designed well at all, Vigors (the games' alternative for Plasmids) also make no sense in this world and half of them are mostly pointless, some weapons feel weak and you can only hold two of them (no it doesn't make shooting more tactical), and its too easy.… Expand

Its a first/third person perspective hack and slash game, its not fast paced and you can't you can't just run and slash everything, theres more depth to the mechanics unlike many other games where you usually have just block and one or two attacks. Ranged weapons aren't easy to use either. I had lots of fun with this game, I loved the gore, killing felt satisfying, playing felt satisfying, waiting really long to connect unsuccessfully was not satisfying, no one being able to respawn in the middle of a match and wait until the last players alive will suicide or get kicked is not satisfying, I don't know if that was a temporary problem that got fixed but in the short time I played on the free weekend I had a lot of that, and thats the only thing that holds it back from being a 10 for me.… Expand

ForTogether with bringing nostalgia to those who grew up with it, this game reminds us many of the flaws of the old RotT and other old FPS.
For example, its a first person shooter with platforming, and not the great Mirror's Edge kind of platforming, this is the **** kind of platforming.
Another annoyance is that sometimes enemies blend in with the background and its not easy to notice them before they shoot you and maybe kill you, which isn't a good thing for this kind of game.
Also there is no quick saving and there are some performance issues.
Its a great game, and its hard, fans of the original will enjoy this one, everyone else will have frustrating moments but you might still enjoy it, especially if you're tired of the casual games or especially the casual shooters that pretend to be hardcore and fail at being either. At least it never gets boring.… Expand

One thing people complain about is the simplicity, yes it is simpler then DotA, no its not simple, and being simpler then DotA doesn't make a game bad in any way. LoL has complexity that is different to what DotA has that most people, especially DotA players, don't understand, or don't want to understand, while being simple enough for people who are new to the genre or don't have enough time to practice and learn something more complex and hardcore.
LoL has a perfect imbalance, but many players just don't get how it works so many will complain about OP champions too.
Another thing people complain about is the way LoL does free to play, but thats mostly idiots who think that free to play must be only done in the one way their favorite company does it, or that f2p is evil and should be never done.
The real problem LoL does have is its horrible community, its better for more people, theres a larger audience that keeps growing, plus its a genre where team play and communication are important, so obviously there will be lots of stupid people, and you will meet some of them. But its not the worst community, its not as bad as DotA for example.… Expand

I already mentioned in my TSE review that Serious Sam is all about developing your own tactics against different types of enemies, then the game throws at you those enemies in really different ways testing your tactics and skill, different enemies in different numbers mixed in different ways with each other, placed in different ways on different maps, and if you don't take it in a more tactical way the games might get too chaotic at times, but if you're in the mood that can also be a good thing, just running around killing everyone, that feels great if you are in the mood for that. Also, one of the best soundtracks, and I listen to lots of soundtracks!
But heres where the problems with Serious Sam II start: The difficulty isn't as balanced as it was in the previous games, at some points the waves of enemies seem way too long and the action becomes more tedious, but the worst part is that shooting enemies and blowing **** up doesn't feel as satisfying as it does in the other games.
Some guns feel weak, the explosions also lame, enemies sink into the ground as soon as they die, blood is replaced by some weird smoke that disappears soon and its not ever red for many enemies, somehow I still enjoy this game but it can't compare to the feeling the other Serious Sam games, both older and newer ones, can give you.
The level design is also not that great, sometimes too linear and sometimes feel empty, people who like exploration would enjoy the other games more. And the worst part is probably the least important part, the silliness. Both the look of the game, the jokes and the story went too far with this silly cartoony style. I love how much more colorful the game is compared to half the games in the franchise, but making it cartoony is probably part of why the shooting isn't as fun, the story is garbage and the jokes are sometimes too childish.
Theres smaller problems, like one short platforming part later in the game or the point where they throw lots of zombies with shotguns at you followed by Kamikazes in a tiny room earlier, but Ill just end this with saying, this game has lots of problems and definitely cannot in any way compare to The Second Encounter, so there are better alternatives.
So why do I still love this game? I'm not sure. Maybe its a little bias, since thats one of the first games I've completed, my first shooter and first Serious Sam game, maybe because it has more bosses and variation then the other games and a bunch of cool ideas, even if half of that is **** maybe because the soundtrack is still really awesome, or just because its still, with all its flaws, a Serious Sam game at its core, and while being the most flawed of them, it is still a really fun Serious Sam game and it wants you to have fun with it.
You can have fun with it, if you're in the right mood and don't have any high expectations from it.… Expand

DmC Devil May Cry is a console hack and slash with a story based on a concept you've probably heard before, but not in a video game, great but a bit simpler then the previous DmC games combat, making the game more accessible to newbies, with its biggest flaw being some enemies that can only be killed with specific weapons. Theres enough moves and weapons to keep the variety interesting and restricting how you can deal with enemies isn't really a good thing, but didn't ruined my experience with the game. The combat also feels better, Dante and his weapons now have weight to them, while the previous games didn't felt satisfying enough for me.
The platforming is great, fast and doesn't changes the pace of the overall game, much better then the previous games.
The game is also one of the best looking games out there, gorgeous environments, perfect example of aesthetics over graphics. And its the only actually good PC port, works great with mouse and keyboard.
Out of all console style 3D hack n slash games I've played so far, this has to be one of the few I truly enjoyed. Don't listen to the retarded fanboys, this game is maybe simpler in combat mechanics, but its still a great game!… Expand

If anyone says this game is unfair or pay to win, they're either lying, or just stupid. From the very first levels, you get good items and so many way to get different temporary items for cheap or free. You get free stuff from just playing the game! And everything is very well balanced, with nothing you can only get with real money (ZEN) that will give you any advantage over other players.
I played many free shooters, and this is so far the most fun I had with one!… Expand

While it is old school run and gun, and can be played without much thinking, its definitely much brainless , and there wont be difficulty spikes and that much chaos if you'll actually develop some tactics to how to deal with the enemy in different situations.
And its definitely not a maze game with shooting in it like Doom or Duke Nukem!
You'd think a game that simply based around running and shooting is just a generic FPS (or TPS, the game also has 3rd person perspective), but the only game I can think of that does the same is Will Rock (no, not Painkiller).
In those games (I'll talk about the whole franchise, even though SSII and SS3:BFE did few mistakes here and there), every enemy has its own basic movement, attack, sound, the enemies can come from any direction, at any time, in any amount, and theres usually more then one kind of enemy coming at you at once, and it all matters to figure how to move, what guns to use and who should you deal with first, but theres no enemies that require specific weapons to deal with, and the game never tells you what exactly to do all the time, so theres many ways to go through each levels, sometimes even brainlessly running forward and shooting everything that moves with your strongest weapons, but that will get you killed a lot and thats the reason people think the game is too chaotic, they don't think enough.
Going through levels experimenting with different tactics, or simply blowing **** up on lower difficulty or with cheats, together with secrets, the game counting how long it took you to pass every level and how many monsters you killed, and also all the mods the community keeps making, give the Serious Sam games lots of replayability.
And the various levels with always great graphics for its time, that in this franchise never looks dated like some other games of its time, with a great and one of my favorite soundtracks (that helps in gameplay by changing when monsters appear) never gets old!
Just don't expect any story. It has one, but its not the focus of the games.
Serious Sam, with The Second Encounter considered by many as the best in the franchise (and for good reasons) is one of the best pure Shooters out there, and my all time favorite! Obviously 10/10!… Expand
