Average User Score: 6.1Dec 1, 2012Do not buy this game for multiplayer. As of the time of this post, multiplayer is only working for a minority of people. Do not buy this expecting a sandbox-ish open world game.
This game is still in a very beta stage. Graphics are on par with the 10 year old Freelancer.
Still giving a 5 as it's current single-player is fun despite the always-on DRM.… Expand

The one great addition of this game takes a page from Age of Conan and adds a live combat system, but feels less fluid and more like driving a tank with a sword attached to the front of it. You stop and press a button to attack and then you can't move until your attack completes. Once you've commited to an attack you're stuck there for a second or two while you wait for it to complete. The existence of a PVP system could make this live action combat more novel, but PVP is currently not developed to anything more than original Everquest. Do not expect to play this game for the PVP.
Quests are all vanilla find/kill/return and the story is your typical asian-MMO generic with lifeless characters you could care less about.
The primary plus is the game is very pretty and some of the races look really cool. That said, some of the races are also panda bears/otters and 12 year old children wearing metal thongs (According to the story they aren't 12, so in this case we know that they all wax their bush.. I'm no prude and love dirty awful porn, but two of the available races are the epitome of the worst of the asian stereotypes in gaming.
All of this would be ok if this game were a free-to-play as would befit it's level. To ask for retail + a sub is absolutely insane.
This game is better than Aion, worse than Rift and definately worse than WoW. Only recommend if you have tapped out on overplaying those two.
Highly recommend Guild Wars 2 if you're looking for a new experience that doesn't feel like a WoW clone. Especially if you are a fan of DAOC + Warhammer + Still a little WoW. Oh it also doesn't have a sub, so you can come and go with Guild Wars 2 all you like. I bought Tera the week before the Guild Wars 2 beta weekend. Couldn't play Tera for more than 30 minutes after.… Expand

AI is atrocious. Often times you will give orders and sit and curse while your soldiers decide not to shoot. They badly needed testers to play through the game a few times before publishing. You can immediately see all enemy soldiers every mission. This makes stealth completely ridiculous as you can simply wait for the enemy soldier to randomly look the other way before having your character round the corner and knife them in the back. This game rips off Jagged Alliance 2, but strips down all the flavor that makes the game fun. Lets hope fans can try to crack the game and mod it to make it playable.
If this game weren't in any way related to the Jagged Alliance franchise I think I would not have the issues I have. The graphical engine isn't terrible and I think that with a another year and some passion about the original game they could have made this into something fun. I also question the amount of money that went into advertising this release and into the good reviews I've been reading that appear to be out of touch with the individuals who actually played the game.
Before buying this game, go buy Silent Storm. It's graphics are still superior and they actually took the time to flesh the game out. Oh it's also 8 years old.… Expand
