Do people deliberately go and slate a version on a rival platform because it bothers them so much?
I can;'t remember the last Call of Duty I played, the most memorable for me would've been the first Modern Warfare. After that I grew tired of the same thing happening every year while nothing else changed. It might be for the fact that I've not played the franchise for a few years that I'm actually really enjoying it so far.
I don't care what platform people own, its preferential choice at the end of the day. I'm reviewing the PS4 version because its the version I have. I expect the XB1 version to be pretty much identical just as I would expect last generation versions to be similar among themselves.
If you enjoy COD buy this game, if you're after a game which doesn't involve much thinking, can be played with friends and is genuinely entertaining buy this game. If you're insecure about the platform you own - grow up.… Expand

I'll begin with the positives. The graphics & atmosphere are amazing. With regards to creating a place that you could believe was real this is up there with Bioshock. The problem is the Alien.
While at first it creates tense moments it soon becomes more of a pain. For something that is meant to be roaming a massive space when its on you, its on you like glue. It can disappear through a door at the end of the corridor then fall from the ceiling right above you. You can ride trains to new locations for it to be there ready to kill you on arrival.Fair enough its an alien and how do I know how it would behave but its almost like you're a dog on a lead and its never far away from you.
You will die a LOT. While fun at the start as you curse yourself for walking under than ceiling vent without thinking it might be there after the 10th time you'll be annoyed, After the 50th you'll be ready to give up. At this point its not scary, its annoying.
To give them credit they tried something new and brave here and they almost pulled it off, I'm not sure how things could be fixed, its almost like they came up with a good idea without the knowledge of how it would actually work.… Expand

I just didn't care for the plot of the game there is no character development, you don't care who lives, who dies and towards the end I just wanted to get to the end with little regard for how I got there.
The AI is a big problem in this game basically there is none, killing an enemy will make his comrades come running out into the open and stand round the body for you to pick off. The use of the cloak allows you to pretty much walk around anything and regardless of how well hidden you are when you uncloak you will be seen straight away. There is no "suspicion meter" which we have come to expect from games like Dishonored or Far Cry 3 where your actions can have a direct effect on how alert your enemy becomes.
The game is not "open-world" and although you're lead to believe there is freedom there isn't. The exterior locations look beautiful the interiors look bland and lifeless. Some textures on the PS3 version are very low quality and you sometimes wonder why in such a beautiful world you have PS2 looking assets.
Essentially this is a cash in it has some good ideas but it feels like it is missing a soul.… Expand

Absolution is a worthy entry which will reward people who THINK. As stated by others the camouflage system is flawed and should have been given more attention - if a patch could fix this it would elevate this game to a 9.… Expand

It's true that some of the missions are unforgiving and it can be frustrating but once youre hanging people from the trees it becomes something else.
Some will be turned off by the sheer scale of AC3 and yes there are bugs occasionally but all in all I'm enjoying this. Brotherhood was the high and Revelations was a disappointment this is doing new things and while it's not perfect and will have its critics I'm glad I bought it.… Expand

The highlight of the series has been Brotherhood in my opinion. So here is Assassins Creed 3.
I won't spoil anything but this game takes ages to get going, I'm talking hours I'm all up for setting the scene but to be honest its dull, I don't want to have my hand held I want to be treated like I have the intelligence to do things my way not be punished if I go off the path. The environments are beautiful - especially the Frontier which is alive with dense forest, animals going about their day and deep sparkling snow. The cities in comparison are alive but feel "generic" . Cut scenes are everywhere which really dig into the immersion as do the messy menus which lift you out of the game.
At the start for reasons you'll discover you can't climb the trees and this drip feeding of abilities is like Gran Turismo saying you can't get out of second gear until you have proved you can go round a corner without crashing.
I hope it picks up I really do but I can't help but feel this has run its course now.… Expand

ByCrashing a supercar into a wall at 200mph results in what sounds like someone kicking a carboard box and results in no damage at all. By making 200 of the cars "better" than the other 800 you're left feeling like its an unfinished game and after 6 years thats just not acceptable. Visually, this game is a thing of two halves. The cars that have the "Premium" treatment are beautiful, problem is they're alongside some very ugly looking PS2 generation cars and the tracks are dull and lifeless. The stadiums are full of cardboard cut outs and the trees look like their from the PS1 era, they're basically X's if you were to look down on them. Its not good enough. Not played the 360's compliment of racing games so I'm not a fanboy BUT I remember PGR2 from the original XBOX being more impressive than this and that was about 6 years ago...… Expand
