Deus Ex, Dishonored, Metal Gear Solid and Hitman Blood Money being examples. From the very start I've not enjoyed this episodic release schedule and I think it has hurt the game as a result. I can't find a story here and it's very hard to get absorbed in something split up like this.
Compared to earlier levels such as Paris and Italy this level is a mixture of brown and green. It's ugly. I also felt there was little room to experiment here as literally everyone is on alert. Filling a level with more enemies to increase difficult is lazy.
Come back soon hitman, ditch this release model and go back to your roots like Blood Money...… Expand

Catalyst is a disappointment - the biggest problem is that it has gone open world and it needn't have. You have this big city to explore but it's dull and lifeless. The story is shallow and forgettable just like its characters. They included a pointless skills tree which once you have aren't enough points to you can buy skills such as being able to turn round on the spot.
Fans of mirrors edge may enjoy it - I'm a fan of the series but this didn't do it for me at all.… Expand

When I played the beta I was left underwhelmed for two reasons really. The first is that the tutorials are short which while understandable it didn't represent the game. The second was that the graphics of the tutorials are intentionally basic - which led me to believe this was representative.
Once you get into the main game this all changes. The environment is huge and the graphics are beautiful. My only two gripes are that you need a constant net connection which is unnecessary - surely a connection could be used for menus alone without carrying it into the game where a disconnection screws everything up? Second concern is this episodic release schedule. It makes no sense. If it means they can tailor the next missions based on feedback this is a good thing but time will tell.
If you use metacritic to make your decisions be very wary of 0s and 10s.… Expand

I'm new to this type of game - I was worried about how daunting it would be but so far I'm really enjoying it. I've probably put in a good 10 hours and I'm at level 9 which makes me a small fish I guess. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this game will expand over the year.… Expand

Any feeling I had of victory was quickly replaced with frustration. I wanted a game that takes time to crack and that makes you think. This is a sequence of maze puzzles which become increasingly complex with a language that you're meant to figure out - which is easier said than done. Instead of feeling empowered I was left thinking "this isn't fun".
My final point on this is the price - as an indie game this is very expensive.
This is certainly not Myst or Riven. Sorry.… Expand

The only think thatThe stealth mechanics of MGSV are pretty much spot on and not getting spotted or killing anyone is a pretty big challenge. The only think that disappoints me is the story, while I won't give anything away... and I'm yet to finish the game I don't feel attached. Most missions don't seem to drive the story they just "happen". I know that driving a story in an open world is more difficult than if it was linear but I feel it could do more.… Expand

I can;'t remember the last Call of Duty I played, the most memorable for me would've been the first Modern Warfare. After that I grew tired of the same thing happening every year while nothing else changed. It might be for the fact that I've not played the franchise for a few years that I'm actually really enjoying it so far.
I don't care what platform people own, its preferential choice at the end of the day. I'm reviewing the PS4 version because its the version I have. I expect the XB1 version to be pretty much identical just as I would expect last generation versions to be similar among themselves.
If you enjoy COD buy this game, if you're after a game which doesn't involve much thinking, can be played with friends and is genuinely entertaining buy this game. If you're insecure about the platform you own - grow up.… Expand

I'll begin with the positives. The graphics & atmosphere are amazing. With regards to creating a place that you could believe was real this is up there with Bioshock. The problem is the Alien.
While at first it creates tense moments it soon becomes more of a pain. For something that is meant to be roaming a massive space when its on you, its on you like glue. It can disappear through a door at the end of the corridor then fall from the ceiling right above you. You can ride trains to new locations for it to be there ready to kill you on arrival.Fair enough its an alien and how do I know how it would behave but its almost like you're a dog on a lead and its never far away from you.
You will die a LOT. While fun at the start as you curse yourself for walking under than ceiling vent without thinking it might be there after the 10th time you'll be annoyed, After the 50th you'll be ready to give up. At this point its not scary, its annoying.
To give them credit they tried something new and brave here and they almost pulled it off, I'm not sure how things could be fixed, its almost like they came up with a good idea without the knowledge of how it would actually work.… Expand
