Lets all take a deep breath and re-think some of these scores. I'll admit this game definitely isn't a masterpiece, but it is one of the most entertaining games I've ever played. Let me break down the pros-/cons- of each.
+Fantastic Gameplay. Highly addictive.
+Excellent scenery. Seriously, this game is gorgeous.
+Simple, but effective RPG elements.
-Story is bare bones(but can be fleshed out by reading grimoire cards at Bungie.net.)
Of course, these are my opinions on the game. The story being the only downside to an otherwise great game. I don't honestly think the game deserves a 10/10, but closer to a 8.5-9/10. I'm rating it a 10 to try to negate the absolutely garbage reviews giving this a 0/10.
To sum it all up. Buy this game. It's entertaining, and will only get better with the updates that Bungie will implement. This is an ever changing game, and just watching it evolve from Alpha, to Beta, to release has been a great experience.

Average User Score: 8.9Dec 1, 2012A tearful end to a remarkable new form of interactive entertainment. Having originally been skeptical of a game released into 5 parts, I'mA tearful end to a remarkable new form of interactive entertainment. Having originally been skeptical of a game released into 5 parts, I'm happy to say that all doubts have been eliminated, and I have been truly converted by this new type of game. Powerful, emotional, and absolutely addicting. More specifically, this episode seemed to declare that the age of television and movies reigning as the true masters of drama, is finally at an end. The only negatives for this game seem to be the general bugs in the game design, and the lack of multi-core support...and of course that we have to wait months before being able to play this amazing game again.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.0Dec 1, 2012Congratulations to 343i Studios for creating such a masterpiece of gaming. Through my personal playing of all the aspects of Halo 4, I haveCongratulations to 343i Studios for creating such a masterpiece of gaming. Through my personal playing of all the aspects of Halo 4, I have only encountered a few minor glitches, that literally have done nothing to slow me down.
Looking at Halo 4, you would be hard pressed to believe this isn't a next-gen title, as the graphics are utterly stunning, and demonstrate what a talented team of developers can do with outdated technology. 343i's emphasis on story and personal connections in Halo 4 comes shining through with a deep, emotional rollercoaster that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat through most of the game. From the absolutely stunning beginning, all the way through to the mind-blowing ending, Halo 4 keeps you wanting more and more.
Not to be outdone by the incredible campaign, the multiplayer emerges as the best in the entire series. The use of ordinance drops and new game modes makes for an entertaining and balanced competitive multiplayer scene. Meanwhile, Spartan ops delivers a fresh and compelling entry into the series. The use of CG scenes to lay the foundation for the impressive firefight-based missions adds to the overall story based experience 343i wanted to deliver. As always, Forge represents the continuing advancement of player generated content, allowing for an unrivaled creation mode. This review truly doesn't do Halo 4 justice, and the only advice I can truly offer at this point is, go out and try it. You won't be disappointed.… Expand
