Netflix andBreaking Bad and Deadwood ruined me for procedurals. No show in 2015 should still be doing shows that can be seen in any order. Netflix and Amazon have changed the nature not just of how we watch, but how it fits together. The first season of Justified barely passed with me, as it was largely procedural "villain of the week" stuff. Thankfully, they chose to stretch out ALL storylines, turning the series into a seriously good replacement, capable of sustaining the attention of those of us who worshipped the storytelling of Breaking Bad, and the dialogue of Deadwood. This season almost goes too far as they threw a lot of plot at the viewer in the first 2 episodes, leaving them to wonder why Raylan would give 2 s$@$@ about an ID card found in a hole in the wall. Walton Goggins as Boyd has virtually taken the show on his shoulders, echoing Walter White's decension into depraved acts, while Patton Oswalt does his best to pull off a southern twang and provide comic relief, to mixed results. Great season, but Season 5 is already better than 4, which was better than 3 which was better than 2, which was.......better than 1.… Expand

This season has had me sitting on the edge of my seat (LITERALLY) during episodes 2 and Glenn's episode.. At other times, I have loved their willingness to slow down and let us get reacquainted with our favorites, such as Morgan's episode. The writers are firing on all cylinders, and you'd be foolish to bail on this now, with Negan's arrival imminent. I would like them to eliminate some of the lengthy pauses taken by actors, as this borders on the pretentious, but I wholeheartedly give this season a 10.… Expand

The fresh overall concept had me hooked from the minute Rick Grimes crawled into the tank in Season 1. Season 4's first 3 episodes have left me feeling kinda "...meh" in relation to the previous season's offerings.
Maybe I'm done with the prison, maybe I'm not ready to accept Rick being a passive follower, and maybe there are just too many characters to follow.
Yes, it's all of those, but they all pale in comparison to the biggest problem I see: the virus. A show as viscerally, violently entertaining as this CANNOT resort to a virus as its menacing threat. It is just too boring... Many people complained about the farm in season 2, and its slower paced storytelling, but this is lurching along so slowly that they'll need 10 episodes to move past with it....too long..
I LOVE story lines that make you think, but the virus is about as played out a notion as there can be. It's been done to .....well, to death. I hope they move out, and on to wilder, scarier things. I've always thought that the things humans do to each other is far scarier than anything mother nature and/or a virus could do.… Expand
