But I expect from inXile Entertainment and Brian Fargo with team of great developers of the past as minimum attention to game, to details. And if this game include itself a term - tactical game, I assume that game must be tactical.
What type of things can be named as tactical in game if:
Almost all enemies can cross the battlefield in one turn?
If starting tactical positions does not matter, because... (see first question)
If each battle just a "rumble" where very rare types of enemies start a distant fight?
Where AI of enemies binary - "0" is patrol, "1" is run to enemies and hit.
No ambush, no tactical retreats, no flank operations, no distant fights.
What's the tactics, where best weapon is "wrench" or "tube". In one interview Brian Fargo say that Wasteland 2, in principle are Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel with more freedom and free world. Absolutely not. FT:BOS is more tactical game than Wasteland in each piece of game. You can do it ambushes, you can shot in the prone position. You can use relief. You can make distant fight. And more-more-more over this opportunities.
I do not want to tell about bugs, because on the starting of sales, games usual have a lot of bugs. I want tell about style of game. I mean art style. You know that Brian Fargo invited Andrée Wallin "to help craft the world of Wasteland". But you can't find hand of this talented artist nowhere except production art and few detailed portraits. All other stuff looks horrible. Just horrible. Or poor. And the justification of this fact is the voting which was earlier. Where players - choose "We want more large world and game" than "we want graphics as in Crisis."
I think that this is incredible manipulation from the side of developers. Because no one thinking gamer never choose the graphics before game and gameplay. Does that mean that if the players choose the Game, the developers can do nothing with the Art and the Style of the Game? Not. Normal developer take care of your player. And gives him two things. Give the gamer all things. And the game. And the style. And the beauty. There are no stupid polls to know "what really want gamer?". You know answer mr. Fargo. Gamer always want all. And first of all - game. Game included all components. You cannot drop one, because somebody say - is not important.
So... here I can see "Tactic" game without real Tactic, and game without Style (Art-Style and attention to details). This monolog can leak long time. But I stop my claims. Because lot of news resources give to this pile - highest ratings and gamers too give this pile highest rate. So... I think that games of this type - thats is what we all deserve. If we silent, if we blind - we receive only thinks like this.
I'm not told that game is bad. I say - this is not a tactical game, and this is not beauty game. My personal rate is, roughly speaking 4 of 10, or 35-40 or 100. But not as doing mass media. "Legend! Great style! If you love Fallout this game for you! Pearl of Kickstarter". Stop making this. You sing the songs for person of Brian Fargo, not for the game. If this game did not Brian Fargo - you would not notice this game at all.
What you say, gamers? "Amazing combat system?", "Ideal Style?", "Beautiful artwork?", "Charming graphics?". Even raw demo of Van Buren of 2003th, which was produced almost 11 years ago looks more beauty and stylish. Brian Fargo in his twitter write about disappointment about review of Joystiq news source, and about low ratings of this review. He really thinks that Wasteland 2 deserve all of this high ratings? All of this world thinks that this... is masterpiece?
Where is the next stop? I have to get off the train.

In comparison with a first part of game your feelings of immersion start working on full power after second half of game. Real empathy for game characters born after long time of play. And in my opinion this is a main mistake of developers. In first part of game this fears, pain and hate begin to torture you from the first seconds of play. Here you long deed post-quests and don't feel your hero.
Second dissapointments large world. Understand me right large world is a great place, but only if you can do something in this world. World of Mafia II too empty. Many streets, houses, and locations just waiting for filling by life. But this isn't happen. Too large world and too small count of interesting quests. You understand this when you get come to crazy weapon trader or for master of lockpicking. You can see incredible detalization of world and locations, think that behind all of this stand the huge world... and you are wrong.
But in any case, this is a very catchy and charming game. Retro-style, incredible cars, old city, full of emotions. Colorite people, gangsters and pieces of old music. Game fully impregnated by atmosphere of gangsters movies. I sure you are remember this game for the fast, hard and bloody firefights, chases and romantic feelings of old wild times. Maybe after you understand that you want feel more than you have. Explore game world more than you explore. Maybe then you understand what I mean.

That is why old FB looks like adventure with a tactical battles, and FB of 2013 looks like a simple arcade where always working "my life bigger that yours". In all other cases working "anyway i saw here med-block". This is normal for arcade, but this not enough for shoot-title like Flashback.
- Game have no memorable Art Style. You can remember how many of gamers day by day told each other about beautiful images of levels and about gorgeous cut-scenes of original game. Here we can see good image of game, but is not enough to say "It's true! He's back! This is FB but in HD!"
- Game have no more smooth movements of hero (that is why in old times this type of games have a name cinematic platformers). Animation looks raw, have many bugs, including the moments which can be fatal for the player (dead, freeze). Many twitches, no smooth transactions between base movements.
- Game have a very casual balance even on hard-mode, and also game love to explain all that you will see in the game via text (even if you turn off help messages). You not need eyes, you can read. "Warning! It's electricity you can make yourself hurt!" or "Warning! This is a bird! This is no danger for you!". Messages of this type is normal for this game. Of course you can't understand that sparks can be dangerous. Sure.
- Instead "man-in-problem" we receive daft-headed-gull which happy commented each action. This is good for comedy game, or for game with specific sense of humor, for Nathan Drake for example, but not for Conrad B. Hart.
Maybe this game looks more fashionable than old Flashback. Maybe this type of hero with a face of Commando and brick-humor be better for sales (I don't know what think people who did this). Action of game can be explained with short "bam-boom-bam" slogan.
But, serious, in what piece of game this is return of the legend? If game was a different name... you can recall her tomorrow, like a legend? And some people have insolence to confirm that this "our old love, but in HD"? This is a good market name. And this is just a speculation. On your love. On my love. On our feelings.
Nevertheless. The game has some positive points. For example, moving the leaves in the jungle. And also... more honestly. I try to find positive things. But I can't. It's just a game. And in any case, not a continuation Flashback. Probably somebody made mistake and confused game boxes?
You not need to believe me on my word. Check videos. Read hundred reviews. Hear gamers. If you not play in Flashback before... play in old game before play this game. Because otherwise you may misinterpret the term a legend.… Expand
