It's no MH, but still fun to play. The game mostly involves 'arena' battles, with the occasional maze run or stealth mission.
Graphics: 9/10 - Not much to complain about, the game looks good on the VIta.
Story: 7/10 - I didn't mind the story (although for games like this I'm not to concerned with story). I like the overall idea of being a prisoner trying to reduce your sentence and the Panopticons competing for resources. Some of the cutscenes were a bit long just to say so little, and others feel entirely unnecessary, such as a cutscene just to tell you to meet somewhere else (when the game could have just sent you there in the first place to reduce loading screens).
Technical/Other: 7/10 - Nothing too bad here. Just the rare frame rate drop, occasional lag while playing online, and every so ofter the loading screen would go longer than usual. No crashes/freezes during my play through.
Trophy difficulty: 7/10 - It doesn't look too hard, just time consuming. Once you've maxed out your gear, you should be able to get the tougher offline trophies in a few tries (such as kill this monster without dying).
Overall: Not a bad game for $30. Main play through keep me busy for ~20hrs and online play will probably keep me entertained for many more.… Expand

Average User Score: 7.8May 25, 2014Pros: It has a unique story and characters. The aerial battles on a dragon are fun/original. Controls feel pretty responsive. Pull off combosPros: It has a unique story and characters. The aerial battles on a dragon are fun/original. Controls feel pretty responsive. Pull off combos and swap between weapon types on the fly.
Cons: Graphics (looks like someone coloured outside the lines during cutscenes). Frame-rate problems. Camera angles while playing can make it hard to see what's going on (mostly when there are many enemies on the field).
Other (Can be pro or con, depending on your taste): Fast-paced Hack and Slash gameplay. Just a menu where you choose which mission you want to take (not open world, but you can go back and retry missions to level up).
Bottom line: The humour, gameplay, and story won't be for everyone, but, if you're into hack & slash games and don't mind humour that's a bit on the dark and odd side, this game would definitely be worth checking out at a lower price or if they fix some of the technical problems with an update.… Expand

I liked the graphics and story (although for this type of game I'm not too fussy about the graphics and story). Gameplay is pretty fun if you like hack and slash games with big enemies.
This game feels like a simpler Monster Hunter game. In some ways it's a good thing, like how farming materials doesn't seem to take as long (you don't seem to need as much material to craft equipment) and there aren't very many gathering quests. Killing missions also seemed quicker (not as much running around trying to find the monster as there was with MH). On the downside, however, you can't buy/craft items to use on missions (such as the pitfall trap, stamina potions, or bombs), which takes away from the strategy. Instead you choose between a number of 'Mitama' types (each type comes with 3 skills you can use in battle) which decide what type of strategy you can use (it's a neat idea and some of the skills are pretty useful and fun). I like that the game has the same 'destroy and cut off certain body parts' goal as MH, but it doesn't have the same feel since 1) the parts need to be purified quickly or they will regenerate, 2) even if you purify a part, the demon can still use that part (it just becomes transparent), and 3) later on it takes much longer to purify body parts (if no one helps you purify, you'll usually have to cut the part twice before you can fully purify it).
What I really liked about the game was that you can take up to 3 AI players in single player (kinda similar to the cats in MH). The only downside here is you have no control over them for their equipment or strategy (would be nice if you could tell them to help you break all parts, to help you purify dismembered body parts, or to use their skills). I also like being able to see the demons health whenever I want.
What frustrated me was that some of the hits against me didn't feel fair (such as if I roll to dodge an attack but still get hit even if it looked like I was far enough away from the attack). Or sometimes I'd take damage just for being close to the enemy (away from where it was attacking). Basically, it felt like the enemy's range is larger than what you see (I'd get hit without seeing what actually hit me).
Bottom line: As someone who loves the MH series, I thought this was a fun game and felt similar to a MH game, but it still didn't have the same draw as an actual MH game. Glad to have the game in my collection, but still wish there was an english MH game for the Vita.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.8Dec 19, 2013I love this type of game (monster/boss hunting type game), but this one just doesn't work for me. The combo system is an interesting featureI love this type of game (monster/boss hunting type game), but this one just doesn't work for me. The combo system is an interesting feature for a game like this and could have been fun except every hit against you stops the combo, so, on the off chance you're not getting attacked for more than a few seconds, you likely won't be pulling of the longer combos. Moreover, the dodge system is where I completely lose interest in the game. It feels as though the enemy's range can hit you anywhere and that your dodge does nothing. It seems like no matter when I time the dodge, certain attacks are unavoidable (and they're usually the high damage ones).
The card system is also an interesting change from other similar games and adds a little strategy, but for the most part you'll just grind for cards to boost your damage so you can just hack away at your enemies.
For me, an action RPG where the dodge system is almost useless (lack of invulnerability and seemingly endless enemy attack range), where every hit cancels any combo you were trying for, and where every enemy has a pretty decent chance to stun you (leaving you open to attack) just isn't much fun. If you're looking for an action RPG where well timed movements and strategy can go a long way, this game might not work for you. But, if you're looking for a hack and slash RPG, this might be a great game for you.… Expand

The story is original (maybe not the best), but the amount of grinding required to move forward takes away from it. What ruined the game for me is the combination of excessive grinding to level up, limited enemy types, and the recent availability of DLC to level up and to make the game easier (which makes the game feel like a freemium game, except you pay the price of a full game).… Expand
