Interesting Storyline. Not the best storyline but it does keep the audience interested enough to keep playing. The secrets you pick up along the way really made the game more enjoyable to me. I loved learning about the old west since I knew very little about it before.
Fun gameplay. The gameplay is definitely something I'll be coming back to for some time to come. Somehow doing headshot after headshot is very fun. Haven't felt that way in some time.
Fun game modes: The Arcade, duel, and storyline modes are very enjoyable and I've played through all of the multiple times. Definitely getting your money's worth there.
No multiplayer. Although I'm not a huge fan of multiplayer all the time in every single game you buy nowadays. Call of Juarez Gunslinger could have used it since it would increase the the playability and the overall market for the game. Definitely a mistake not to include it.
Game Modes. Although I said I like the modes it isn't enough. Definitely needs more modes or sections within the modes to make the game more fun. Maybe a zombie mode too. I know thats a steal from other FPS series but just something else to increase playability would have been nice. I've played through everything and I'm wanting more!
I loved this game. Maybe not the best Call of Juarez game (since it really isn't about Call of Juarez at all...just takes the name from the series) but its fun. Cannot wait to buy the next installment since they definitely did a great job here (just please don't do a Cartel one again...horrid idea).… Expand
Average User Score: 6.7Dec 22, 2013As a World War 2 enthusiast, I find Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943 as a interesting and engaging strategy game. It's similar to the Total WarAs a World War 2 enthusiast, I find Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943 as a interesting and engaging strategy game. It's similar to the Total War series since you control a small army (or platoon) and fight your way across the map. That's about as far as the similarities go however.
Poor AI commands given to your army are not followed through completely and they do the complete opposite of what your attempting to do. For example, you want a tank to keep it's turret focused on a hilltop to await a tank you know is there. Instead of keeping the turret focused there your tank will attack other less important targets around it.
Inconsistent difficulty The difficulty differs during each mission. At one point, my tanks can completely wipe out the enemy. Two seconds later my tanks cannot even penetrate an enemy tank less then 100 yards away. Doesn't make much sense and seems that this penetration feature the game has needs work.
No Real Campaign There isn't really a campaign to speak of in the game. There is a single player aspect that you can kinda play through scenarios and level up (which is kinda a useless feature) your army. I was hoping for a more indepth campaign that makes me care about playing more not just a bunch of scenarios.
Realism- I haven't played a WW2 strategy game with such realism and focus on actually strategy. Other games like Company of Heros have little strategy comparatively to this game.
Graphics- Although not the greatest graphics I've seen it's a good start and always fun to see a tank being blown up or seeing your infantry storm an area for a full out brawl.
Replay Value- Definite replay value for your money. You can even just play out other scenarios outside of the "campaign" so that's nice.
Overall, I enjoy Theatre of War 2 but find it's just a shell of what it could have been. It's a great start into WW2 strategy games but needs more "meat" on it's bones to really make it a classic. However, for someone looking for a strategy game that will definitely have you thinking and have a interest in WW2 then I would definitely recommend the game. For the regular gamer it might not be fast paced enough to keep your attention for long, so you might want to pass on the game.… Expand

However, I cannot seem to change characters half way through a battle. Maybe it's my fault for not knowing how? Either way it should be improved in many basic features. No real skill involved. I played my first map and was in the second place spot by the end of the match. The second game I won. Either I'm a pro at gaming (which I'm not), or hack 'n slash is far too easy in the game. Archery also needs loads of work. Plus no real incentive to want to keep playing besides bashing someones head in. Where are all the unlockables? Should have them in a game like this. However, regardless of its flaws this title is a fun few hours of your time. You'll enjoy hurting people but after a few hours you'll want more depth. More to do then just bash someones head in. This is why it only gets 5/10… Expand

Most of the time you get someone attacking you overThis game shows promise but fails horribly. The melee combat is almost completely broken. Most of the time you get someone attacking you over and over with the same basic attack and can randomly kill you even if you have a shield. So very little skill is involved in this game. Other players say you need skill but don't listen to them. Very little skill is really needed since there is no stamina or negative draw back from spam attacking someone. Since the game is meant to be a melee combat game, having it so broken seems like a total failure on behalf of the developer. However, the graphics are good. Gore is alright. If you need gore to sell you a game you should probably get your head examined anyway. Archery is pretty fun and always great feeling getting a headshot. Maps are decent but only a few are actually fun. Overall, pass on this title. Don't bother wasting your money. Although there is fun aspects to the game, most of the time you'll be pulling your hair out when your spam attacked or when you hit an opponent but it fails to register. However, if the developer fixes the basic mistakes they made then this title might be worth checking out. But in it's current state, don't bother.… Expand

However, the higher you go the more you realize this game makes little sense. I've literally taken the same tank as my friend and we decided to shoot one another square on (in the same location). One deflected and the other destroyed the tank (Note: we targeted same location on each others tank [Hetzer]). Other issues are extremely poor matchmaking. You can't decide which game to join on your own but are forced to play depending on some random computer generated game. One team will have great players with amazing tanks and the other will have horrible tanks with bad players. On average one team with dominate the other. I also find that I was in plenty of battles where I was a teir 4 in a tier 8 battle. I can't understand why I would have been put in those battles. Overall, this game has fun points and I'm sure to keep playing but I think it's very lopsided and isn't far when it comes to tank battles.… Expand

With the over saturation of FPS games from huge companies, I decided to play a gamed I missed a few years back. I've played previous installments in the BIA series but never played this one. I have to say that it is a very refreshing game when everyone else wants to play COD with horrible stories. This game has a great story, decent combat but poor AI. However, it is an older game so the AI might not be on par with 2012 games but it's worth a play through. Only issues I have with the game is the poor AI (all you have to do is pick up a KAR98 and pick off their heads when they look from behind cover), and historical inaccuracy. But if you're sick of the COD type games nowadays give this a play through and you'll have some fun you wouldn't have expected.… Expand

The game is way to easy on the hardest difficult setting. Right when I thought it might get more difficult it stays practically the same throughout. "Quests" are very repetitive. Find guy, kill him. Find animal, kill it. Get medical package to location. Race against clock. That's about it. No story in quests. The reviews for the game give it so much praise but I'm baffled as to why. I really tried to like this game but even the protagonist is a pain. Half the time I wanted to kill the people I was trying to save. Why would I want to save a bunch of snot nosed American kids that only care about themselves? However, besides the kids I'm trying to save the story is decent. Overall, the game is amazing if you're not use to FPS or RPG. But other then that it's a let down.
IMPORTANT: This game is pretty racist. The good guys have Australian (white) accents while the bad guys have African accents. Shame on Ubisoft for doing that.… Expand

RO2 is not your typical FPS. It is not a clone of other FPS games but rather its own action/adventure which will leave you wanting to snipe off that last Nazi or Soviet. That being stated, RO2 has plenty of problems in terms of bugs, single player campaign, and overall stability at times. Don't expect the single player campaign to enthrall you and make you replay over and over. It is the least memorable part of the game. So where does this game shine? It shines in its multiplayer atmosphere. Unlike other FPS games, teams must work together to take objectives or take out their opponent. Keeping in mind that the game is about realism is key to survival. A run-and-gun game seen in other FPS games will only get you killed faster in RO2. In short, I recommend this game to fans of real FPS games and are sick of the yearly cardboard cut out from other companies. However, keep in mind that there might be a huge learning curve depending on your skill level and that bugs are to be expected. However, once use to the game mechanics and style, you'll quickly fall in love with this forgotten gem.… Expand
