*Online is horrendously slow. If you actually successfully get in a game (not often), if the host disconnects or you get kicked or whatever, you have to wait while it reloads the whole of GTA Online.
*If it ever actually connects or finds a game, it is full of hackers.
*Online is slow slow slow slow slow slow slow. Of the 10 hours I have spent in online mode, maybe 2 hours has actually been spent playing. The rest is disconnecting, reconnecting, being hacked, etc.
*I can't play single player because the game crashes at the same point over and over again. I can't progress in it because it crashes.

This game is, frankly, just a whole lot of fun. It is easy to pick up and play yet hard to master. It is very fast-paced and action-packed, has tonnes of laugh-out-loud moments, and is just a blast to play. You can either run in guns blazing, or be more intricate and thoughtful in your approach. You can play this game any way you want.
As for voice chat, it genuinely would not be suited to the game as it stands. Maybe if there are different modes in the future, or longer rounds, it would be useful. but, as is, it is not missed. The game is too fast-paced to make tactical decisions as a team.
This game really does find new and ingenious ways to play. Swimming along quickly, steathily, up walls, etc. You can creep up on people, go face on. Whatever you want.
The attention to detail is sublime, as the ink grabs what moves over it - players, weapons, whatever.
I love that teams get scrambled each round so that each game is different. The variety of weapons is great. Nothing I have come across yet is overpowered.
For once it's not about K:D ratio. You win the game by covering the map in paint, not by killing the most.
There are so many things this game does right, it's just so much fun.
As for what it does wrong:-
Can't choose weapons or kit between rounds.
Should have map selection feature like in Mario Kart 8.
Needs more game types (coming in a couple of months).
As for what it does right:-
Easy to pick-up.
Hard to master.
Use of gamepad is excellent (see the map covered in paint, launch to your teammates, etc).
Focus on the map and environment, not on kills, although kills help your team cover the map in paint.
Lots of customisation.
In short: BUY THIS GAME!… Expand

It's much harder than Mario Kart Wii, but still incredibly enjoyable. The fact that it's harder means it's more enjoyable for good players. But it's also really accessible for new players and children.
The attention to detail is astounding. There are loads of small things that put a smile on your face. The graphics are beautiful. The new DLC is very reasonably priced and looks set to continue.
The ONLY problem with this game is the battle mode, but I am sure that will get fixed.
But, most importantly, this game is FUN and with HUGE replay value.… Expand

It's not a run-and-gun zombie shooting game, like basically every other zombie game, but a real survival game. You rarely use guns, ammo is severely limited. Your main weapon is a cricket bat. It's more about wondering if there is a zombie around the corner... or worse, more than 1 (you rarely survive encounters with 3 or more zombies). The lighting is fantastic as you can see almost nothing, so have to use your gamepad (which acts as a scanner) to see some rooms. This all adds to the creepyness of the game.
It can get incredibly creepy if you play in the dark, especially at the times when you have to look at the gamepad (e.g., for hunting around in the backpack or lockpicking) and then you look up to see a zombie staring at you in the face.
And, just now, I had a situation where someone else playing their game affected mine - my character died, so my new character had to go and retrieve their backpack from the (now zombiefied old character).... Only thing is, by the time I got there, some other player killed them first and took everything! All my guns, medpacs, grenades, etc. These are NOT easy to find, and I had them for 10 hours of the game up until that point! That means I am now far in the game, but have almost no items, thus making it 10x harder. I've never seen this in a game before, and is very cool. It means you really do not want to die, as you could lose everything.
The only issue I have had with this game are the loading screens (which aren't Lego City Undercover terrible).
Honestly, though, this is a very underrated game. I don't even like zombie games, but this is great. You will not be disappointed. What a great game!… Expand

The single-player tutorial missions are perfectly playable with a good frame-rate, but on entering multi-player I get around 8 FPS. Which makes the game pointless. What's more, the developers flatly IGNORE this issue, even though it is the biggest issue on their feedback tracker.
My PC specs are above the recommended specs but I cannot play this game. I really should be getting a refund.… Expand

War of the Roses was a great game, but no-one plays it because it had a bad start and steep learning curve and does not have attack and defend modes. So I really did want to like this.
Summary: I picked this up for about £7, but, honestly, it's probably worth mroe like £5. It just feels like a poor, clunky mod. If it was faster and had better graphics it would be worth more.
Lots of people play it.
It can be brilliant when people play as a team.
It does feel quite medieval in spirit.
The development team clearly want to fix the bugs that it has (which is a lot).
Apparently they will release free updates, too.
1.Firstly, and most terribly, the game is slow-paced. And not in a good way. Just it takes you ages to get anywhere, it takes ages to swing weapons, and it takes ages to spawn. Even the menus are slow! (No, I don't have a slow computer.)
2. The hit detection is terrible. People will hit you when they are nowhere near you or not even facing you. You will stab someone quite clearly yet "miss".
3. It's very simple. There is almost no depth. War of the Roses had tonnes of depth from swing mechanics to where body armour is, to having to use certain kinds of weapons against certain kinds of body armour. This is hit/block/hit/block. Don't get me wrong, you can actually be skilled at the old hit and block, and timing is key, but that doesn't mean there is depth. There are a lot of skilled people at this game.
4. The graphics are TERRIBLE. I can't believe people think they are good. The textures are AWFUL, to say the least. In all honesty, it looks like somewhere between a Half Life 1 and a Half Life 2 mod. It makes me wonder whether they imported their textures from the original mod.
5. Bugs - there are a lot of them (even after the new patch), though I am confident the development team will fix them.
If they released an HD texture package (could happen; it has for other games, and the devs seem to really want to make this game great) increased the quality of the hit detection, and made the pacing faster, then I think it would be a very fun game. Just, right now, it feels like a mod, not a fully-fledged game.
I really wanted to like this, too!
Average User Score: 5.8Oct 3, 2012This is the first time I have reviewed anything on Metacritic, but I felt the need to to help the longevity of this classic game. Yes, it doesThis is the first time I have reviewed anything on Metacritic, but I felt the need to to help the longevity of this classic game. Yes, it does have problems: the first day servers kept crashing (but this was fixed by the morning); there are only two modes (but more have been promised for free), and it is not very well optimised (but I turned off shadows and now my frame rate is good). But the great things far outweigh these negatives. Firstly, it's great to have something new multiplayer-wise, rather than FPS games. Secondly, this is is just pure, unadulterated fun. Nothing more. It is, in fact, hilarious. What other recent games do you get to charge at people with a sword or be on the receiving end and shoot them with a crossbow just as they reach you? Or where a guy on a horse with a lance is charging at you and you shoot the horse so he flies off it as it collapses? Battles can be messy (like I imagine they were in medieval times) and they can also be sparse. You can play how you want - close quarters, long-range, horseback, quickly in for a kill then run away, or a mixture. I like the crossbow then going in for some sword-fighting. It is hard. There is a steep learning curve. You have to give it time and learn how to play. People say it's unbalanced, but it's not. if you want to kill a guy with heavy armour you really have to use a hammer. If you only have a sword, then hopefully you have little armour so you can move more quickly and escape or run circles around him. This game actually requires thought and skill. It also requires teamwork to win. The only thing I fear is people won't try it because other people say it's unbalanced, but, in actuality, they haven't taken the time to learn how it plays. This is definitely worth picking up, especially as free DLC content has been promises in the form of maps and game modes. Hopefully they will make a siege mode, as the genre calls for it. And hopefully they will allow servers other than Multiplay. All-in-all, great game if you give it time to learn it.… Expand
