And this is a completely fair review. I've loved the Call of Duty series for a while now, though this game is fun and very popular, it's pretty good at best. It's not a bad game, if you will.
The campaign is not believeable at times because of how predictable or linear it is with cliches from this genre, but who cares. The one thing that pulls millions of people to MW3 is the multiplayer. Yes, it is innovative for the most part when considering the killstreaks, game modes, and small things here and there to keep that "Call of Duty multiplayer" pace going, but it's nothing new. When being developed it kept a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" idea to the max. If you wanted to be completely critical you can say it's simply Modern Warfare 2 with a fresh coat of paint on it. Fixing the small things here and there from the MW2 game, and chainging a few killstreaks doesn't make it entirely something new to embrace and delve into. All in all, it's a fair game for awhile but then it loses it's fun.… Expand

Not based off track record with the entire series, but just looking at the single game itself, it's one of the games you hold onto forever just for the memories and replay ability.
Just to get it out of the way, I understand everyone's frustrations with the ending scenes and how they felt there was no closure whatsoever, too bad. Questions don't always get answered, but that doesn't automatically cancel out everything the game had accomplished up to that point. It's like comparing it to a football player. His first 10 seasons of play are phenomenal and record breaking, but then he is human so he has a mediocre 11th year, and disregarding his entire career and saying he is a bust because he had one human effort of a year. The visuals are stunning all around, sound is great, gameplay is intense and innovative at times, and the story is beyond captivating especially if you have stuck around for the entire series. The multiplayer is beyond fun and time consuming, and satisfying when you unlock a new character before your friends do. The one knock I have on it is that you pretty much do have to play at the 2nd installment of the game before the 3rd to truly understand everything that is going on and not have TOO many questions starting off the game. Faltering it from just being a game a noob to the series can pick up and just start at. Lay off the bad ending, deal with it, move on to a new series, or hope it was BioWare's plan all along with the new DLC coming soon, or meaning the series isn't over.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.2May 24, 2012WIth everyone clamoring over MW3 and BF3 for top spot in the shooter multiplayer genre, it's hard not to compare any military based shooterWIth everyone clamoring over MW3 and BF3 for top spot in the shooter multiplayer genre, it's hard not to compare any military based shooter that comes out today. Which does not do justice for Ghost Recon Future Soldier. It is not trying to be like the Call of Dutys or Battefields today, it's a slower paced shooter based around having strategy and choosing your type of approach to battle situations and having fun taking them out super ninja style. The story follows the typical cliche of "oh no there's bad guys gonna blow everything up and we have to stop them", but hey...if it ain't broke don't fix it. But it is still fun and halfway more believable than most campaigns in recent memory. What drives this game ahead of competition for me is the gameplay and innovation they tried to capture in multiplayer. Using teamwork is critical and very satisfying when you completely dominate the opposition. Gunsmith mode allows for countless ways to edit your classes, and the one knock everyone seems to have is it's visuals. It's being said that it truly seems like a game of the past because of small visual nit-picks here and there like bad facial features or blades of grass being unrealistic to your character. If you want to compare it to games like MW3, it has many of those same problems visually, so what. Gameplay is what's important, and Ghost Recon definitely is a must play.… Expand

Yes the story is linear, DUH.Beautiful visuals, intense gameplay, good use of Max's old fashioned Bullet-Time, and an awesome multiplayer. Yes the story is linear, DUH. It's not an open world game or RPG, not all games are giving into the genre, and Max Payne is sticking to it's drama cutscene filled, intense firefights and twists in the plot to make it the great game it is. The multiplayer is ambitious and something new out of not just the 3rd person shooters but shooter multiplayers altogether. Using bullet time and other perks like Paranoia are awesome ways to lose track of time while dual wielding Uzis and wiping out an opposing gang.… Expand
