Average User Score: 7.7May 18, 2014I really liked this album. I agree with the guy that said "it's Metric all grown up". Throughout the whole album there are some great songs that keep up the interest. Both the tunes and lyrics capture great sentiments. (Speed of Collapse, Nothing but Time, Clone, etc). This was one of my favorite albums of recent memory.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.2Nov 4, 2013It's a great album! It's easy to listen to and it brings up or sustains my mood when I'm going about my life. It's doing all the things a musician probably wants their music to accomplish. Also, something about the whole album reminds me of healing with the sound and white-background artwork. I definitely feel that listening to I'm With You is reflective of tribulations, changes and an underlying passion for their making music as a family unit. As they've gotten older their music seems to have gotten warmer is really positive and continues to be poignant. It can't be easy to keep up that excitement but they do it really well. Also, the lyrical observations and poetry are great, too. They're bringing new and awesome things to the table.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.9Nov 4, 2013This album feels like a love letter to the fans who've missed Mazzy Star. Their sound is broader but it's very true to what I found beautiful about previous albums. The Kingdom is real high point to the album and it drew me back to when I first discovered this band. It's the first song and it sets the tone for a bittersweet album. The artwork too, is great and very true to their image as a band. I'm not poetic like some reviewers and it's difficult to articulate what the image and music evokes but it's some type of a relaxed-almost melancholy-but-somehow-inspirational feeling. I haven't heard much music that can do this and it takes skill and passion to do what they do.
For people who've never listened to Mazzy Star, I believe this album is definitely something that could speak to people of different ages and backgrounds. It's also consistent with who they are and has a seductive, melodic, ephemeral sound that is reminiscent of their other songs. It's great to hear that they're still making music and it was worth the wait. Check them out.… Expand
