Average User Score: 9.2Jul 7, 2014If you're like me, and have little or no experience in isometric turn-based cRPG's, then I urge you to take the step into a whole new world of game-play and immersion!
I pray that D:OS (and its inevitable success and admiration) creates a significant turning point in the gaming industry.
I wont **** and moan on the state of gaming right now, but I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling like I am being used, patronized, and financially milked by the empty, shallow cookie-cutter games we are offered these days.
As far as my review of the game goes I really only have good things to say. Its an incredibly engrossing world, with interesting stories and interesting characters, that keeps you wanting to play; NOT through cheap tactics like we see in Diablo clones, MMO's, or other gear-treadmill/unlocks type shenanigans, but because of genuine desire.
I know, I know, how can I not find anything wrong? That's impossible right? Wrong. Honestly, Ive not experienced any bugs or crashes of any sort in the short 40 hours I have spent in-game so far. The game was ready to come out of Early Access. (FYI the devs have not stopped to rest and have been hot on the case post release, with updates and fixes).
Who knows, maybe I'm unable to be critical because I've been totally enchanted by it all. Jumping from a solo play-thru to a co-op play-thru (on 2 separate profiles, and I've nowhere near finished the game on either) I am pleased with both, and we only have more to look forward to in the form of developer content and player created mods.
I highly recommend Divinity: Original Sin to lovers of authentic cRPG's with intelligent design, or if you just fancy trying something new to you, this is a great place to start!
Thanks for reading :)… Expand

Its good fun for the first couple or so hours, then the novelty quickly wears off and it all just gets so boring and repetitive.
They try and entice you to do all the side crap, but its just boring busy work.
Fundamentally the game is over simplified.
Its very "last gen" in appearance (I hate using that word but ppl will understand what I mean).
-stuff like baked on lighting.
-too many plain looking textures. (I have a monster of a rig and play on the highest settings @ 1440P).
-character modelling looks plain and very last gen (but hey, they've made sure your coat tails wave around like crazy!!)
-reflections on windows that don't match what they are reflecting because its all just drawn on. (seriously its really bad)
-lack of bullet physics (e.g.no bullet splashes when firing into water).
-hilariously bad A.I.
-lack of overall realistic physics simulation.
-duller then dishwater main character.
-reasoning and motivation behind story lines is totally weird.
(apparently if you walk into a prison with a gun and give yourself up
you will get booked into the prison automatically like it was a Hotel, and get put into a cell within minutes).
-did I mention the main character was dull?
I mention the graphics because the game was billed as being a great looking innovative game,
but it is nothing of the sort.
I wont go into the performance issues, but its safe to say this is one *seriously* badly optimised PC game.
There's tonnes of other stuff that makes this a below average game experience, but I think you get the picture.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.9May 9, 2014I felt I had to write a user review to shed some truth about this game. (FYI, I've played for 13 hours, not finished yet tho).
With influences from The Witcher (but with better combat and the ability to walk through doorways without any issues) and with a third of the budget, it manages to string together a very enjoyable dark fantasy. The combat is fast and tactical, not at all like the Souls games but can be quite punishing on the hardest difficulty.
The skills and leveling up gives you the satisfying feeling you are getting stronger and more powerful. The crafting (upgrading) and loot is decent and suits the game. It has a good musical score and the voice acting is actually pretty damn good, apart from a couple of unimportant characters (tho the script is a bit dodgy sometimes).
The only thing that doesnt work well is the lip syncing, but I don't care too much about that. You could say the art style is similar to Dark Souls, and the graphics are fine and exactly what you'd expect from a mid budget game.
Honestly, its an above average ARPG, and if you luv this type of game you should enjoy this.
The ultra low scores given by some of the gaming press, are shameful and disgusting considering the stupidly high scores they give out to shoddy AAA games all the frigging time.
*solid* 7/10 (taken budget into consideration)… Expand

Average User Score: 8.2Jul 6, 2012Ive been playing TSW for over 20 hours now and i can safely say i will not be subbing at the end of the month. It just isnt worth it for a mediocre game when there is better on its way. Combat just feels too cheap and clunky and some of the design decisions (like having to cancel quests and then later backtrack) have left a bad taste. The whole look of the game is dated and the animations just look unpolished. It deserves a 6/10 score because it does have an intriguing setting with interesting npc's and some good (for an mmo) quests. The guys that have been giving the game perfect 10 scores and then going on to explain the faults of the game must be delusional fanboys and must be ignored if you dont want to end up wasting your money on somthing that will dissapoint. At the end of the day are you willing to spend £40 + subscription on a 6/10 game?… Expand
Average User Score: 5.1Mar 18, 2012ADVICE (to ppl who have'nt finished the game): Stop playing 10 minutes before the end....seriously!! ...you will be happier. The ending will infect your brain with a malignant non-operable cancer that will then ruin the ENTIRE trilogy for you, meaning any replay of any of the games will feel utterly pointless.Mass Effect should deserve a 90% score for being one of the best action sci-fi trilogies we have available to us, but goddamnitt, why did they have to ruin it with such a ridiculously lazy ending!!… Expand
Average User Score: 6.5Feb 11, 2012really enjoyable action rpg, kinda like a mix of oblivion and fable.looks great, has awesome combat, tonnes of loot, weapons, armours abilities and skills to customize with. (not witcher2 grfx but serves its purpose, and you have maybe 5 second load screens entering homes, caves etc., and new lage areas of the map).you will recognise a lot of aspects from other rpg's but thats fine because it works well, so why the hell not use it.Also it is BUG FREE. There really is a HUGE amount of quests to do and so far they have been excellent, and i have only explored 25% of the map.Just wanna say again its so nice to be able to play a game WITHOUT ridiculous bugs, awful animations, dreary dialogue, boring quests and pathetic combat.........(i honestly dont know what game user "sf2000" was playing but it certainly wasnt this game, so please IGNORE this fool)… Expand
Average User Score: 5.8Dec 26, 2011My advice to anyone wasting there time reading these user reviews is to look away now and not to bother.
its become such a joke now i think they should scrap user reviews or drastically change requirements to somthing like IMDB has.
as far as this game goes, i think its a great bit of fun.It is what it is, and if you like mmo's and star wars you'll be happy. Even if you dont particular care for mmo's, you can just as easily enjoy TOR as a single player experience if it so pleases you.… Expand
Average User Score: 5.0Oct 15, 2011Quite dissapointed for lots of reasons. 1)mind numbing missions, that provide zero motivation and proper reasoning. I honestly cannot believe that who ever wrote this is a person that even enjoys playing games. I would be embarassed to put my name to this paper thin plot, and i'm sure other real gamers will agree with me.I wish they had just left out the "story" completely.2)half the time textures are too muddy. 3)There is absolutely no physics effects and no destructable enviroments at all.e.g.A vase on a table is stuck to the table like a cast iron statue, and that is unacceptable. If this is the consequence of this new engine then its not worth it just to have pretty looking textures for some of the game. 4)I have the worst screen tearing i have ever seen in my life (i have a very decent nvidia based rig and have not been able to get rid of it even with all the suggested fixes and patch). On the plus side i havent had any crashes or the texture pop-in others are having and it stays a nice 60 fps. Also the character models are nice, the textures at a distance can look look fantastic, the combat is fairly satisfying, and the driving is kinda Mario Kartish. The post release update (that also includes the missing graphics options) has made stuff worse for me and taken some of the crispiness out of the good looking textures. With all the technical issues its had at release, its really not what we should be accepting from a modern AAA title. Looking at the game as a whole package, its really below average in most respects apart from graphics, and not worth paying full price for, definately reccomend waiting for price drop.… Expand
Average User Score: 5.9Jun 23, 2011i will admit that i like it but it is still inferior to the best in the series which is still the original FEAR!!!!the cover system is unnecassary and i really wish they hadnt made the combat focused around it. the gunplay in the original game was awseome and you only needed lean and crouch even on extreme....and i was also hoping they would have health packs.....oh well :(....... giving it a 8/10 coz i'm such a FEAR head.… Expand
