It's fun to play and easy to understand with a unique but never flushed out story backbone about a romeo and juliet love that isn't supposed to be. The ending of each level is a strange change of pace from the journey but has a lesser effect than intended. About 2 hours of main gameplay with extra modes greatly increasing the longevity if needed. A beautiful, fun game with great music and lack of any real story. Reminds me of fl0w or flower in the good and bad ways. If you enjoyed those, you'll enjoy this.… Expand

Don't get me wrong, the game plays smoothly and has a good retro aesthetic but unless you are the kind of person who is fine getting 9/10 of the way through a level only to be spiked up the butt time and time again just to best your friends or earn a bronze trophy...this game probably isn't for you.
However, if you played supermeatboy so much you could speedrun it without thinking twice, you will adore this game. I had to quit because I felt like I was going insane, but some people will love it. If you love going insane, pick it up. If not, don't.… Expand

Way better than gta5 which looked amazing, and sure it's sometimes not the e3 graphics from 2012 but other moments are breathtaking. I love the story and environment and I think it's for a more mature audience than gta5. Textures and lighting are crisp and unique and beautifully rendered. The gameplay is fun and the amount of content easily surpasses any other open world came I can think of. The stealth sections are smart and engaging and the minigames are well executed as well. I don't understand what people are saying about the driving either. The acceleration is a bit fast, but if anything it feels more realistic which is never a bad thing. I don't get what people were expecting. This is another blockbuster ubisoft title well deserved of the hype. Pick it up! There's nothing this good on the next gen/current gen market yet.… Expand

Yes, it's 6 hours if you rush through without playing the optional test courses or exploring the city or your ability tree in detail, but there's also a new game plus playthrough and I found the main game with all extras to be about 9 hours with 17 in total for a new game plus included. What a beautiful and original game it was too.
A suave jazz vibe with great voice acting through my dualshock speaker as the lightbar lit to each word... it was an awesome experience I recommend to any one looking for a change of pace in their gaming landscape for a week or two. The music and voice acting is top notch and production values are sky high. Sleek is the one word I would use to describe the whole package.
If you enjoyed Bation you will like this game, but this game is a little deeper and asks more from you in the best ways. What I can say most of all, is that it will stick with you. I only wish there were a real life poll for our forecast.… Expand

I started on the 2nd hardest difficulty and I think it's made it much more enjoyable and long lasting. It is incredibly difficult on this setting, almost dark souls difficulty. I've died more than I can count but most of the time it's my fault and not the AI or design of the game. I'm on hour 23 right now having done all side quests and am about to face the final boss. The story is cliche but it's enjoyable none the less. I've managed to stay human even though I've made a lot of immoral decisions at other points in the game. It's deeper than people are making it out to be with a mass effect like dialogue/morality system. The character customization is in the middle of the road. Upon creating your character there are only 4 or 5 choices for male/female along with some hairstyles. The gear is fun, allowing you to switch helmuts, gloves, breast-plate, etc. although in the end there are only maybe 7 of each with about 30 total weapon choices. You can collect materials to add both visual and statistical bonuses to them which is fun. The visuals have a cool slightly cell-shaded look that resembles some of borderlands town textures with an eos4 vibe. I will play through this game again on the hardest difficulty and so that I can see the demon side of things, so I will have probably spent 50 hours with the game when it's all said and done. Well worth it in my opinion, especially right now in the current drought of games on ps4.… Expand

As a long time Final Fantasy fan (VII and up...XII was my fave) I was really looking forward to this. Expectations destroyed!
I played the Beta phase A and I hated it... I couldn't read anything because the text was so tiny I felt like I was going blind trying to read it and I only played it for like 3 hours. I am so glad I gave it another shot! I play alot of games... I mean alot... and part of that reason is I get bored easy so I play a little of this game and a little of that game and move on, but this game has captured me. The text size is fixed and once I got the hang of all of the systems and the new controls (to me, a console gamer) and understood not to run around in circles trying to shoot an arrow (who knew) and finally got some badass gear, I fell in love with this game.
It was about hour 5 of gameplay but every hour after has been so freaking sweet. I've generally had a bad attitude about mmos because it seems like you're constantly having to talk to people and interact with non npcs and it just seemed like a bother, but this game lets you play alone most of the time and when you are required to group for a dungeon or raid it does it for you! You get mounts, pets and other awesome customization items. I don't even want to think about how many hours it would take me to level 50 all the jobs... but I'm sure gonna try.
This game even made me think about cancelling ps plus and just by the sub for this... and I might...
At first I was worried that I wouldn't be able to cancel after my first 30 days ( when I was sure I would be done with it) but they don't even charge you unless you sign up! I bought trials fusion this week too but haven't even touched it. That's saying something.
If you like RPGs, customization, playing alone or with friends, awesome graphics, grinding, a good story, switching from weapon to weapon, magic, crafting, xp, final fantasy or if you were scared to get into an mmo... this is the game for you. It is almost perfect. I can't think of any negatives. This game will consume you. Get it.… Expand

I grew up with the sega and 32X and played my friends nintendo systems and I am sick of hearing people compare this to games of that generation. If it did come out back then gamers minds would've exploded in awesomeness and loot. This game isn't Contra. This games is closer to Borderlands than Contra.
I think people play and can't get over the steep but extremely brief learning curve and judge it like they remember the outdated games of the past where death meant restarting the game completely. Say you do die on the same level 15 times... you collect the components from the enemies you defeat/ treasures you find and using a very simple and intuitive crafting system you can make armor, weapons (including all of the parts and ammo) and knifes to completely destroy that level you were having such a hard time with. You can also buy one time use items such as med packs and C4 to help you through the stage. You can hunt animals and use their meat to cook foods for buffs on missions and with each rank you earn you learn new weapon blueprints, etc. You can also use components to create lasting buffs such as increase speed or weapon damage.
The learning curve continues to rise throughout the 25+ hour campaign with expert pacing and the replay value is almost endless. The story is really the only lacking part but I did enjoy it none the less. The game is an awesome retrospect into games of the past like you remember them, but a side by side comparison will look insane.
Get this game for free with plus or buy it for 20. Either is worth it.… Expand

It feels a little less MGS and a little more Splinter Cell though. We all know the game is short but it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that has looked up this game before purchasing it though. There is a fair amount of time you can spend with this game doing missions on Hard, collecting everything (XOF patches and cassette tapes) and completing specific challenges such as "Spot every enemy in the shortest amount of time" which does add some hours of replay.
There is a funny Easter Egg which I won't spoil at the end of one of the side missions if you get an "S" ranking and it is classic Kojima. The thing I missed the most from MGS4 was the active camo, or any camo for that matter. It's just a rubber suit? Hopefully the Phantom Pain will address this and give us more than a cutscene at the beginning and one at the end.
The only reason I'm not giving this game a 9 or 10 is not because of the length of the game... I knew it was short before I purchased it, but the price for the length. 30$ is 15$ too much. There are a few noticable clippings in the game such as when you're carrying somebody over your shoulders your arm tends to reach through their body and even though it's an "open world" it is very clear how the devs want you to play through the game... with a stun gun and on your belly. I enjoyed the game and you will to, but just know you're getting 15$ ripped off.… Expand
