Average User Score: 7.8Jun 10, 2014Believe the hype. I will try to keep this short and to the point. The combat is amazing. It's very similar to GW2 but much faster and much more fun. Crafting is great as is player housing which could almost be a separate game by itself.
There are two issues however that some people may not be able to get past and I would completely understand their gripe.
First the quests are bland, that is true. If that is a deal breaker then this MMO is not for you. Personally I don't really care. If I wanted to read a well crafted story I would you know, read a book. For me every other aspect of this game is so well done and so much fun I don't mind at all.
The other complaint is the art style. This is a love it or leave it issue it seems. I love the art style. I've read some people say it's like playing a Pixar kids game and I can see that a little bit. But to me the art style is more reminiscent of a three dimensional Space Ace or Dragon's Lair.
This game is simply fun, challenging, funny, complete and damn near perfect.… Expand
Average User Score: 5.8Apr 7, 2014Finally! I’ve been waiting for a true successor to World Of Warcraft for a very long time. Now when I say a successor don’t get your panties in a bunch, I am merely speaking for me personally. Nothing will ever kill WoW except Blizzard themselves. The term “WoW Killer” should just go off and die already. For me Elder Scrolls Online feels a lot like the game that finally gets me off the WoW drug once and for all. Though I am a realist and I have been on the new MMO train many times before so I won’t really know for a few months. But man, right now nothing compares to ESO. The last time I had this much fun in an MMO was the beast itself, WoW.
The graphics are great; the questing is fun and not your typical MMO drudgery. The crafting system is deep, incredibly fun and get this, actually useful. I also love the fact that I can be a mage tank or a warrior healer if I really want to. Tired of being melee and want to pick up a bow? Do it! Want to wear plate as a caster? Do it! The possibilities are amazing. And PVP, one word: epic.
To make it short and sweet this game is the best MMO I’ve played since I first played WoW almost 10 years ago. It’s just fun. Plain and simple this game is incredibly fun.
One last word on people complaining about there being a subscription fee: I’ve played almost every single major MMO that has been released in the past 10+ years and have not found a single free to play game that is anywhere near as good as subscription games. I am talking about true MMOs. Every free to play MMO I’ve ever played is so limiting in content at the free level it’s not worth even playing. As a matter of fact when I do play those games I end up paying a lot more than $15. You get what you pay for.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.9Aug 31, 2012Guild Wars 2 is without a doubt the best MMO on the market today and it is only 3 days old as I write this. After playing the game since Beta it has ruined every other MMO out there for me. No game available today can touch it. There are pieces of other games that when added up could be as good as this game is but not one MMO has as much awesome as this one does. While waiting for Guild Wars 2 to be released I played a few of the "top" MMOs out to kill time. Let me tell you this, I didn't last more than one hour in any of them. After getting a taste of what Guild Wars 2 had to offer every one I tried seemed stale, tired or just plain boring.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.2Jul 19, 2012What I like about this game is that it's so different than any other MMO I've played and I have just about played them all. I had almost given up on the entire MMO genre until stumbling onto TSW. This game is a shinning gem in a sea of turd filled mediocrity.
Honestly though, I don't feel like reading a review does this game any justice at all. The only way to truly understand how good this game is is to try it out. After the previous stinkbombs that have been released lately (I'm looking at you SWTOR) I fully understand someone waiting until a free trial is released before playing any MMO. But I have to say, if you are remotely intereseted in a modern world, no cookie cutter FOTM classes, NO ELVES OR ORCS and most of all fun then pull the trigger. That being said, if you do try out this game give it some time because initially the ability system does seem really odd and really confusing but once you delve into this game it's quite impressive. If I were to change anything about the game I would change the first time players introduction to the game. I really did feel lost for a bit.… Expand
