Average User Score: 5.5Apr 10, 2014A lot of negging going on for what is plainly a fun and well made game. I'm enjoying it so far, more than I expected.
Smooth gameplay, fast action, sound effects are top notch. Despite there being no story or characters to speak of, Titanfall is very involving and compelling. That speaks for the quality of the gameplay, which is just good times, even when you're getting hammered.
Playing this on 360 and very happy with it technically too - good frame rate, never sluggish, connection was great so far.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.8Jun 30, 2013I adore this game. i loved it on the wii and I'm thrilled it's now on Vita.
The game has 2 things that make it magical: its unique 2D art and animation, and a beautifully melodic and high energy soundtrack that pushes you onwards even when the gameplay gets samey.
The game is very simple go left, right, explore, collect, level up, manage basic resources, get some light mystically flavoured storytelling, and mainly fight. You're collecting swords with crazy and inventive special moves throughout the game, and testing them out on all manner of incredibly designed and animated creatures & monsters. Like Okami, the game is inspired by traditional Japanese art and mural painting, and it really does feel like a painting come to life in a video game.
Very few games have this much charm. I rate it very highly indeed as one of my few keepers this last game generation.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.9Dec 11, 2012Only playing for the campaign, no time for online...
It's a beautifully presented game. Guns are awesome. Incredible SFX.
Gameplay is smooth, involving, flow is flawless. Not much thinking involved, no emotion. Pure reaction, exhilaration. Fine by me.
The sci-fi world and story is daft, and incomprehensible next to the sleek and involving sic-fi of Binary Domain. As a videogame fan and Halo agnostic, I enjoyed this game a lot though.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.3Dec 1, 2012Loved this game. Can be as sim or arcady as you like - my preference is somewhere between. Also plays great with the wireless steering wheel. Gorgeous graphics, fantastic cars and scenery, races and progression are expertly set up - only bummer are the endless taunts you have to suffer from the game's characters before each race. Otherwise, my favourite racing game on console. A+!!!… Expand
Average User Score: 8.7Mar 20, 2012Journey is beautiful and involving. I didn't find it moving, but it is fascinating.
I played online and had a companion for each chapter. I wasn't actually sure whether they were other players or a computer character, because they were integrated into the cut scenes too. It was thrilling.
However for an experience this immersive it is over far too quickly. Less is more aesthetically, but I was still exploring after two hours, and was definitely not ready or expecting to have to wrap up so soon. A shame that in the end something so measured ends up feeling attenuated ... Regardless, the game is genuinely stunning, obviously made with love, and it tells a mythic story with a light hand, which I liked. I hope it's a success, as it suggests new directions for what's possible with setting and atmosphere in games.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.0Mar 11, 2012I've played the Gears of War games to death, and love them, and so my first impression playing Binary Domain was that's it's a little vanilla. It's doesn't have a strong atmosphere, and atmosphere is what primarily makes the Gears games so memorable after the shooting.
But Binary Domain does have very strong characters who made me laugh, so I actually cared about them (when does that happen?!?!), and it has a great sci-fi story that is very well told. When I finished the game, I felt like I'd had a great emotional experience, not just played a dumb shooter, even though it's that too. But what's with the critics on this one? The best it got is like an 80. Seriously? I've played most of the major games this last console generation, across all three consoles, and Binary Domain definitely ranks in my top ten fun experiences. It's just a very, very good game.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.6Mar 11, 2012Gorgeous and fun platforming. I already played it through on PS3 and loved it. Enjoying it all over again on Vita - the port seems perfect. There's also a few extra new unlockables - relics that you touch to pick up, and a fresco back at the snoring tree. Very nice. Makes you wonder what's coming next if this is how Vita starts out.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.0Mar 7, 2012The most fun I've had playing a game for about, oooh, a few years? It's brilliant. Don't understand the 'meh' attitude from the game press. Sure, it's not original, but the gameplay is amazing fun the whole way through, it never gets dull, and its story is the best I've seen in a game for a long time.
Game of the Year contender for me, no question!!! I really hope these guys are planning a sequel...… Expand
