Average User Score: 9.2Jul 31, 2013I'm the kind of fan that went to Hawaii during the filming of the last season just to see the sets and be on the island during the end. The show coincided with meeting my future wife, and it was a show that we introduced everyone we could find to.
I know it wasn't for everyone. Some were bothered by unanswered questions and the different pace of different seasons. I personally have not found many other shows where I couldn't wait for the next episode, and spent nearly as much time re-watching the episodes for more insight.
One thing that matters to me more than any other show is how they treat the characters. I fell in love with nearly everyone they introduced, and I felt they treated so many characters with respect.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.4Jul 31, 2013This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After years of watching this show, I feel like all they're able to do is repeat the formula of the first few seasons. Don travels from being a depressed, unfaithful husband with Betty to being a depressed, unfaithful husband with Megan.
It is a relief to see his coworkers grow as tired of his routine as I have, but I find little to keep my interest in this show. And after seeing Top of the Lake in which Elisabeth Moss takes a lead role, I start hating the producers of Mad Men for not putting her talent to more use.
There are a few good lines and a few good moments here and there, but I can't help but wonder if the writers acknowledge any irony by having Megan play two roles in a soap opera on the show while the show has largely become exactly that.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.5Jul 30, 2013Based on the pilot alone, I can't say I'm terribly impressed by the show. I felt at one point I was watching what would happen if one of the cast of Friends had to go to prison. Orange also wants to appeal immediately to the demographic that is still shocked or entertained by models as lesbians who eventually realize they want to marry a man, the lure used with Kissing Jessica Stein in the past.
The supporting characters are written so flat it would suggest the writers wanted to make sure you understood who everybody was immediately based on characters you've seen in countless television shows before.
Even the minor surprise for the episode would have been better if it had been delayed.
Some of the aspects of prison life are fairly accurate, but others are strange. I'll revisit my review after subsequent episodes.… Expand
