Average User Score: 4.0Oct 29, 2013Post patch 5, the game is near to perfection. I've been having the most difficult Macedonian campaign ever, it will test your decision making in every sphere military campaigning, managing your finances, its eithera win-win situation or you lose in a chain reaction.
There are a lot of factions in this game, so if you're playing a major faction, you'll be at war with minor factions in the beginning. And mind you, these minor factions when allied against you are even more major threat than even the biggest, largest factions and thats what makes your mind racing. It is always you have to secure yourself certain provinces and territories so you can expand further.
Province system is awesome. You have a provincial capital and minor sub-settlements, making the fight to glory even harsher and challenging demanding capture of every settlement to secure a province, Unlike previous total wars where you captured the capital and the whole province was yours.
The only thing that receives my negative attention is the poor optimization. CA needs to optimize the game ASAP or they are losing fans in perpetuity. I myself had to change a lot of custom settings to make the game playable. It was UNPLAYABLE in the beginning and CA needs to address that.
And one final advice, those negative reviews are pre patch 5 when the game was in a horrible condition, almost a pre-alpha. Believe me, now you will enjoy the game to the fullest! provided you interfere with some custom settings to make the game playable!… Expand
Average User Score: 8.7Sep 19, 2013Incredible! Just impressed by the new EU IV! I had enjoyed the preceding title a lot, and this one just becomes better. They simplified aspects that needed simplification, and made some things and mechanics even more interesting like trade, the ideas and technology system etc. without making all that too over complicated, confusing or buggy.
This game is just perfect, it deserves a 10!… Expand
Average User Score: 5.8Apr 20, 2013Good graphics with bad gameplay and heavily scripted AI. They dont even notice you when you're walking at their backs. The most unrealistic sniper gameplay, I mean, I'm not an official sniper but these guys don't sneak up and kill with their knives. This is like playing a stealthy mission of CoD franchise which I always disliked!… Expand
Average User Score: 7.2Apr 8, 2013I don't know why people are rating so low to this game.Probably because they find it hard to get out of their comfort zone CoD styled game play? That ridiculous run and gun arcade?
Being a hard core RO1 fan from day 1, I found RO2 to be exactly the same as its predecessor. Immersing, intense 'find some cover!' type of a game! people shouting, the intense firefights and the gun shots you suffer from somewhere from the window you never know, single sniper shots that force you to keep your head down because the spawn point is so damn far away, this game needs skills and training! So in short its like a simulator and you need to have that kind of a mindset towards it. In addition, the 64 player support makes it even more intense.
This is not a run and gun FPS, kindly play something like black ops or Borderlands if it suffices. leave this game to the pros! I give this game a 9. Would be so readily happy to give it a 10 if only the gun sounds had a little more punch!… Expand
