I'm playing a mission right now, on top of a cliff, needing to get down to do whatever I need to do. I attempt to backtrack to run along a ridge behind me - out of bounds, mission fails. I retry, I see a grapple spot about 20m to my left. I proceed to latch on, it says Out of bounds again. I keep heading down, towards the marker. About half way down, mission fails.
I finally just ski down the the extremely steep slope like I'm on a snowboard, about 150m or so, straight down, not stopping the entire way. No health lost, nothing. No big deal. I get down, immediately get attacked by: a) An eagle, b) Pit viper, c) "Hunters" (really?) and apparently, d) His pet wolf. Oh, the hunters have flame arrows to make it super irritating.
I've played this game for roughly 4 hours so far, and can not begin to comprehend how it has a 8+. It's literally Far Cry 3.1: Himalayan Edition. Same weapons, same controls, same map design, same collectibles, same skills, same generic bad guys, same retarded AI, same outpost design, same scripted events, same perfectly set up animal-gets-loose-and-kills-everyone-for-you scenarios, same radio tower mission structure, etc, etc.
It's boring, uninteresting, uninspired, hackneyed, contrived, repetitive, stagnant crap. It was OK with Far Cry 3 (at least the flowers don't glow and dubstep doesn't play all the time), but again? The same exact game, again? Please...I've had enough, this game is going right on ebay.
I was a huge fan of Far Cry 2, I put a shameful amount of time into that game (story and MP). This game...this game is an abomination. It did well, so I know Far Cry 5 will come out next year - season pass and zero innovation in hand. Only this time, I won't waste any time on it.

-X-Ray kill cam is a neat addition, for a while. It does get old when it's used on basically every sniper kill.
-Graphics are good. Very clean looking.
-Controls can be extremely annoying and wonky at times.
-Enemy AI is comically bad. Extremely easy to exploit and lure from groups. They won't hear 5 trucks being blown up, but will hear you jogging from 75m away.
-Multiplayer is a joke with it being 3rd person and all. It's basically who is best at whack-a-mole.
-Brutally linear map and mission design.
-Story is wholly non-existent
Overall, really disappointed. Sniper Elite 2 was a pretty bad game, this is basically a carbon copy with no improvements. Video games should be fun and interesting, this is neither.
Infamous Second Son and Wolfenstein The New Order are MUCH better alternates if you're on next gen, and looking for games to play. I'd advise skipping this unless you can get it cheap.… Expand

I like how it doesn't take itself too seriously, it has it's moments of ridiculousness in an alternate-reality universe that is grim and dark. The controls are very smooth and work flawlessly. It looks good, it plays good and it tells it's story very well. Nice variety of missions. However you choose to play, is rewarded handsomely.
I've been playing it non-stop the last few days. It is a blast, I wish I bought it when it first came out instead of Watch Dogs or BF4. I think this is pretty easily at worst, the 2nd best retail game released on PS4 thus far. Infamous Second Son is the only other game with rivaled quality at all phases.
This IS is a finished game. This is how games should be made. No holding back parts of the game until release. Good job developers! I want a sequel.… Expand

Firstly, the whole hacking thing is entirely too simplified and gimmicky. It's basically just "press a button to do this". Of course everything is kind of set up for you, so it feels way too easy and undeserved.
The slingshot camera is extremely annoying while driving, especially in chases. Car chases are boring and feel so fake as the chase cars follow you like they have super AI robots behind the wheel and not humans. You can't lose anyone by simply out driving them, it has to be by using the hack gimmick (to change traffic lights, alter a bridge, etc).
You're constantly barraged by things on the HUD cluttering up the screen - a common practice with Ubisoft. You couldn't escape text, pop ups and markers in Far Cry 3 or Assassins Creed IV, and you certainly can not in Watch_Dogs.
The driving is terrible. Cars just float and "slide" everywhere, no sense of traction whatsoever. You can bash through pretty much everything and it vehicles (even motorcycles) can take a monstrous amount of damage. That in a sense, really takes away from the chases and the sense of danger when involved in such things. I've had jumps on bikes where I've been in mid air, smashed into a wall, landed and was fine. Just drove right off. This is something I'd expect in Just Cause 2, not a game trying to emulate GTA, which is known for it's awesome car physics.
The story is just all over the place. They give you a morality bar, yet you're constantly on missions where you're killing these guys and those guys. You can go around stealing out of peoples bank accounts, spying on people. It just doesn't make sense, and I'm not really sure how it fits into the game. You're a guy out for revenge, morality is kind of out the window, IMO.
The side missions are kind of repetitive. So far it's been "stop this guy with this convoy", or little mini games. Some of the little city games are kind of fun, like the chess game and the ball-under-the-cup as time killers.
Overall, I think it tried to do way too much. I can see the similarities between this and AC4: Black Flag. It feels like the concept was so wide ranging, they had so many ideas they wanted to throw in. They did, and as a whole, everything turned out to be mediocre at best. Nothing is really 'great'. Not one part of the game really shines out and makes someone say "wow, that is awesome!". Instead, you have a lot of really cool ideas, thrown together into one convoluted game with so many moving parts and different story lines that it kind of makes you disinterested in everything that is going on because it's so overly complicated.… Expand

But that in no way hurts the overall experience. It's how horror games should be. You have a sense of helplessness, and feel desperation. That's what makes a game scary, where your options are limited.

I can't even stress how painfully disappointing the second half of this game is, compared to the first. The zero gravity exploration was gold and I thought this game was on pace to be every bit as good as the first...then you land on the planet and this game goes downhill from then on.
Endless enemy spam, enemies blocking you into corners that spawn right next to you. The axe enemies that take way too much damage but continue to be thrown at you like crazy. Barely any necromorphs from the first game, just these annoying charging super enemies all day. Human enemies that are worthless. I've given up like 15 times during the 2nd half of the game out of boredom/aggravation, but continue on because I paid 20 something bucks for this game.
