Average User Score: 8.3Nov 5, 2013I'm a massive Eminem fan since 2002 when The Eminem Show came out. It's my favorite album of him by far with Encore close second. MMLP andI'm a massive Eminem fan since 2002 when The Eminem Show came out. It's my favorite album of him by far with Encore close second. MMLP and SSLP are classic albums but they never really hit my heart. Relapse was average and Recovery was great at first but it got old too soon.
I was waiting for MMLP2 to drop out and didn't know what to expect. The result is better than i would ever imagined. Before I start, I want to say, that I have the Deluxe version of MMLP2.
The album starts with BAD GUY which is the sequel of "Stan" and the first 4 minutes are decent. But when the beat changes, Eminem drops probably his most powerful verse of all time which makes this song an instant classic. (10/10)
PARKING LOT is the only skit on the album, which is great because, well, we got more songs!
Then we got RHYME OR REASON which samples "Time of the Season" by The Zombies. The song has references to his father he never met. (8/10)
SO MUCH BETTER is some kind of revisit to "Kill You" from MMLP1 with a heavy beat. It seems to be one of the worse songs of the album. (6/10)
We got SURVIVAL next. Powerful guitars and angry Eminem. The chorus is weaker and got overplayed soon. (7/10)
LEGACY is one of the second gem of the album. Eminem escalates throughout the album and tells a story which will serve as a motivation for people. (10/10)
**** can't keep up the pace of Legacy and is one of the few skippable songs. (6/10)
We all know BERZERK pretty well. It's crazy and unique but serves as the "first funny single" and MMLP2 has better songs. (7/10)
RAP GOD is a work by a Rap God. 100 words in 16 seconds? I don't have to say more. The beat is a little bit repetitive but the song is awesome! (9/10)
BRAINLESS is not that great for the first listen but I found it really interesting. The lyrics are great and Eminem spits them in his typical rapid speed. (9/10)
When I first heard the STRONGER THAN I WAS it left me completely speechless. Eminem isn't a great singer but the emotion make it up. Awesome!!! (10/10)
THE MONSTER is similar to "Love the Way You Lie" but it's not that repetitive and it will have a huge success in radio. (8/10)
SO FAR... is a unique song with a rock beat and Eminem makes fun of technology he doesn't understand. I've never heard anything like that from him before and I like it. (9/10)
Everybody was waiting for LOVE GAME because it features the prince of hip-hop Kendrick Lamar. The song is a surpise because Eminem and K.Dot didn't battle for a #1 MC in the world but enjoyed a work together and the result is good. (8/10)
HEADLIGHTS is probably the because surprise because Eminem tries to settle the relationship with his mother. The most emotional song on the album. Nate Ruess doesn't ruin it as much as I expected but I would have done it without him. (8/10)
EVIL TWIN is a pure hip-hop. The style of this song reminds me "Underground" or "Soldier". Great lyrics but not a big fan of the beat. (8/10)
GROUNDHOG DAY (6/10)
Then there is BEAUTIFUL PAIN which is one of the three best song on MMLP2. Love the chorus by Sia and Eminem's verses are even better. Should have been on the normal version. (10/10)
WICKED WAYS is a great closing to a great album. Eminem drops one of the best verses here and then there is the return of Ken Kaniff at the end. (9/10)
Overall the album is awesome! I expected a good work but it exceeded my expectations. The final chapter of a saga is a return to a top form and for me it's better than the original because he matured.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.9Jun 27, 2012I remember me doing the review of A thousand suns and gave it 10/10. A thousand suns is not a bad album but when you put it next to this oneI remember me doing the review of A thousand suns and gave it 10/10. A thousand suns is not a bad album but when you put it next to this one it's just not that good.
Living Things kicks off with a gem! LOST IN THE ECHO sounds similar to LP's older work but it's combined with their new electro-sound and it works great! One of the future singles!!! (10/10)
Next is IN MY REMAINS. Heavy guitars in this song, no rap whatsoever and Mike joins Chester at the end of the song but this time singing. The first two songs show that LP came back to distinctive strong choruses and it works! (8/10)
BURN IT DOWN is the first single and even though it's kinda overplayed now, it's a strong song and it was a great choice for the first taste! (9/10)
LIES GREED MISERY is experimental. Many people love it but I'm just not so much into it. It's not that I don't like it but the sound doesn't work for me that much. (6/10)
I'LL BE GONE is awesome! I liked it when I heard it for the first time but now I love it!!! Probably the best chorus from the album with Chester's powerful lyrics and beautiful voice! It's the first song with only Chester's singing. (10/10)
CASTLE OF GLASS reminds me Breaking the Habit from Meteora which I love, but I didn't get into it this one much yet. It doesn't progress that much and sounds the same for a whole time. But it's not bad at all. (7/10)
VICTIMIZED is short, fast and crazy. Sounds like the old LP but it's just missing something. (6/10)
ROADS UNTRAVELED is the first of the two balads. Starting with Mike's singing and then Chester is joining him. Chorus is without lyrics - simple and perfect. Beautiful song ladies and gentlemen. (9/10)
SKIN TO BONE is one of the shorter tracks which contains both Mike's and Chester's singing and many electro elements. It's not bad but doesn't feel like a big hit. (7/10)
UNTIL IT BREAKS is Hip-Hop. It doesn't have that LP drive but it's an interesting one. It's probably most of Mike that you can hear on the entire album. Not bad but there are better ones. (6/10)
TINFOIL is Mr.Hahn's work similar to Session from Meteora and it works as intro for the last song of the album...
The last song is POWERLESS. Another ballad, this time it's just Chester's singing. It starts slow and evolves to the epic finish. It's one of the 3 best song from Living Things and definitely future single! (10/10)
Living Things has 3 perfect songs, 3 really great ones and the rest is worse but definitely not bad. It's not the second coming of Meteora but that's not what we're expecting. They've grown up and have different style now which I still like and I bet you'll like it too.
I would give Hybrid Theory (8/10), Meteora (9/10), Minutes to Midnight (7/10) and A Thousand Suns (6/10) now. This one goes next to Hybrid as the second best studio album of Linkin Park. Definitely worth of your listening.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.2Sep 14, 2010This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This album is experimental again. Everybody remembers how surprising was M2M. Songs are deep like never before but 5 skits is little too much. The album kicks of with the loong intro...It's 2 songs already in 3 minutes. Disappointing! But then...The best song of this entire album is coming...
Burning in the Skies is absolutely awesome. Chester's singing is beautiful and even Mike proves that he can sing! (10/10) ...
Then another skit which could be intro of the next song. Track which has 18 seconds. Not so much...
But next track When They Come for Me is good. I don't like the chorus that much and Mike has had better raps before but when the part where Chester sings: "Oh When They Come for Me, When They Come for Me, I'll be gone..." is the best part of the entire album. Amazing! (8/10) ... Robot boy is pop. I like it, Mike sings there, but it's not one of the best of the album. (7/10) ... Jornada Del Muerto is another skit and it's kinda like Robot Boy's outro but I like it better than Robot Boy. (8/10) ... Waiting for the End: I don't like Mike's weird rapping here but Chester's singing makes this song reaally beautiful! The chorus is probably the most beautiful of the whole album! (8/10) ... Blackout is an interesting track. Chester's screaming at the beginning is great because it's the only one song which contains his shout! The slow part is good too but I don't like it together that much. (7/10) ... Wretchers and Kings: I'm tired of the listening of the looong speech at the beginning and it's at the end again! C'mon LP it would be much better without that. The song is good. Mike brings some good rapping and Chester is really powerful. It's probably the closest song to the old LP. (8/10) Another speech after that but now it's skit...
Then Iridescent. It's wonderful! Mike's singing is better than ever, Chester is great as always at slow songs and it got some beautiful lyrics. I love this song! (9/10) ... Fallout it's another skit and samples Burning in the Skies...Why?
We all know The Catalyst. I didn't like it at first but it grew at me and even though it's not my favorite, it's one of the better songs! (8/10) ... The Messenger is the worst track of this album. It's probably Chester's worst singing ever. Weirdest song from Thousand Suns. (5/10)
This album is going to be discussed a lot. I like it a lot but it has a little too many skits there and horrible outro. Many people would say it's not Linkin Park anymore. But I like it better, than if it was another HT or Meteora. They are older now and they're making a new music. It's not bad at all! Good job LP!!!… Expand
