Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem is a B movie that truly earns its B.

It may not be classic sci-fi like the original “Alien,” which it has in its DNA, but it’s a perfectly respectable next step in the series.

Provides enough cheap thrills and modest suspense to shake a few shekels from genre fans before really blasting off as homevid product.

Chopped down to 40 minutes, this could be a wickedly cool short; as is, it’s a passable slasher that’s still nowhere near the interspecies smackdown we geeks have long imagined.

Aliens vs. Predator -- Requiem simply exists, nodding to the continuity of the larger series and opening the door for, yes, another entry in the franchise. In Hollywood as in outer space, spawn begets spawn.

A dull actioner that looks like a bad video game.

The film's major draws are R-rated gore and some nice physical effects, proof that a man in a top-of-the-line monster suit can still be more effective than CGI.

An orgy of mindless violence, a random collection of bloody bodies, alien misanthropy, and slobbering carnage designed to bore straight into the pleasure centers of 13-year-old boys and leave the rest of us wondering when the movies got so damn loud.

It's unclear whether any of the actors here have promising political careers since their only purposes are to serve as prey, adversaries and involuntary incubators to their guests.

The camerawork is a smidge too shaky and the lighting/color design too dark for me to relish the Predator-on-Alien butt-kicking.

The problem with the "Alien vs. Predator" series is that the humans keep getting in the way.

A tasteless, witless, mindlessly perfunctory bloodbath that has the discourtesy to take itself seriously. Pitting aliens against predators may be the height of frivolity, but God forbid anyone have fun with it.

Jakob gave it a7:
I am a big fan of all the alien and predator movies, i liked this movie. I really wanted this movie to be great but the directors made the movie cheap and maybe that's why it got dark, to hide they mistakes. I also think they rushed through the movie, if they ever make a third i hope it will astonish the fans.

Brook P. gave it an8:
What on earth are you people thinking when you rate these films on the story. what are you expecting when you rent out or see a movie called aliens vs predator lol? sounds to me like your just in way too deep. Relax and enjoy a bloody fun movie

Chris gave it a7:
To be honest, it really depends on what you wanted. Me? I wanted Aliens, Predators, and violence. OMG it's not as good as the Aliens movies!? Duh, those were actually good movies. OMG the acting is bad?! Obviously, what do you expect with a zero-cast and a story that is a sequel to "AVP"? OMG it's not retarded campy TBS-style garabage? No, it's not. I can understand some people not liking it, but it did what it meant to do almost perfectly (it is a bit pooly lit admittedly). Here's the story. Aliens drop onto a quiet little mountain town. Predator follows it into a quiet little mountain town. The obvious ensues. If you wanted something else, then no it's not for you. But if you can appreciate and enjoy that being done well, then it's a very good movie. My only issue is that the pregnancy scene was completely unnecessary.

Kurt K. gave it an8:
This movie is way better than AvP 1. But still way below any of the Alien trilogy (yes trilogy !) or Predator movies. I only have one large complaint: In 90 percent of the action sequences I couldn't see diddly dick. I watched this in the theater and on dvd with hight contrast settings. In swear to every thing that is holy - I could not see anything! There was a scene where the camera panned for 2min over absolute blackness while epic battle music was playing. What I liked about his movie was how the predator was practically not a hunter but janitor cleaning up the mess. Some characters were likable but mostly flat - which is OK because they are redshirts anyway. I love how this movie has action from beginning to end, and doesn't take to long to pick up the pace. That the plot was not very deep is a OK in my book. I mean the the title is Alien vs. Predator. Any movie with something vs. something in the title is not going to be an intelectula challenge. Trying to make the plot deeper would make it only pretentious. AvP Reqiuem is good monster and horror flick. Nothing more - nothing less.

Philip gave it a9:
I enjoyed this movie, with those good special effects and all.. Well, looks like the whole world hates this movie, but I am one of the scarce fans who hope for AvP3.

Christopher G gave it a4:
Mildly entertaining, i think the director thought it would be scary if you couldn't see anything - well you cant see anything but it just makes it annoying. This movie could have been a 6 or even a 7 if you could see anything at all. Here is the thing with these alien movies that the directors dont get - the whole dark "what does the alien look like" thing has been done - so you can let us see these things.

Wordy Wordword gave it a1:
The only point it gains from me is for its explosions, pretty. Other than that its a pretty repetitive and boring show of how to kill humans, oh, with the odd contrived attempt at shock value (maternity ward scene). All in all a disgrace to the franchise.
