67

Portland Oregonian Shawn Levy

There are moments of pleasure, humor and, yes, terror to be had here all the same.

63

Philadelphia Inquirer Desmond Ryan

Has the incoherent look of a movie thrown together by a committee whose members weren't on the same page.

50

Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert

It's a muddled, sometimes-atmospheric effort.

50

Baltimore Sun Chris Kaltenbach

Gets credit for avoiding the easy path. Too bad the path it chooses doesn't lead us anywhere we want to be taken.

42

Entertainment Weekly Owen Gleiberman

A flat, heebie jeebies thriller.

TV Guide Maitland McDonagh

It never actually coalesces into a movie.

The New York Times Stephen Holden

A clever if muddled collection of riffs on the "Blair Witch" juggernaut, dressed up with intellectual pretensions by Joe Berlinger, who directed this film with a chortling zest.

40

TNT RoughCut Andy Klein

There are lots of elements that make no sense whatever.

38

Boston Globe Jay Carr

Berlinger has approached Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 with intelligence and even a bit of thematic heft. But, frankly, the cheap thrill is gone.

38

Charlotte Observer Lawrence Toppman

The assault is against our ears, as the soundtrack pours forth a stream of thrash and Goth music.

New York Daily News Jack Mathews

The characters are boring, the violence generic, the suspense nonexistent.

Downright awful.

Chicago Tribune Mark Caro

Resembles an old Nine Inch Nails video. Missing from the mix are any characters with whom you'd want to spend one minute around a campfire.

25

Miami Herald Rene Rodriguez

If you're going to direct a piece of crass, nonsensical junk, at least have the decency to release it straight to video, where it belongs.

20

Rolling Stone Peter Travers

While the first movie steadily tighened its vise, the second loosens its grip through strained acting and incoherent plotting.

20

Mr. Showbiz Michael Atkinson

A peerless indignity, a club-footed vomit launch of teen-horror clichés, overproduced self-importance, and scareless gore.

20

Washington Post Desson Thomson

We're only a little spooked, only a little amused and, by extension, only a little entertained.

Seattle Post-Intelligencer William Arnold

It doesn't have the imagination or daring to make a full turn to self-parody.

Cult shocker has been turned into throwaway megaplex fodder.

A straight exploitation story.

Few movies have spread their fibs or facts as clumsily as this one. There's not an emotionally plausible moment in the picture.

There's nothing scarier than a group of hormone-crazed 20-somethings, but this sequel isn't much more than a footnote of a footnote.

Andie v gave it a2:
I think the director got bored with this "new project" and asked his teenage son to direct it or something, i mean, i did NOT get it, there were these twenty year old people having sex in the middle of the woods, maybe cause there's nothing also to do, then they wake up the next day not knowing what happened to them, it has nothing to do with the blair witch at all, ugh! what a waste of movie rental money, i should have rented something more worthwhile. i kinda feel sorry for the cast members, this move probably ruined their acting careers...

Sammyo gave it a0:
A terrible movie. I hated every second of it. Don't watch it, it's that simple.

calimero gave it a7:
Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I think this is a interesting film. And the reasons are: is so dumb and stupid! But above all: it makes no sense and that makes him look creepier than actually it is.

Sam gave it a0:
There is noththing awful in this movie that is considered "Quite possibly". Everything awful in this movie is "Easily". It's EASILY the worst movie I have ever seen, it's EASILY the most pathetic excuse for an ending of all time, and last but not least, it's EASILY the most dissapointing movie of our time.

Sam gave it a0:
A truly awful film. The first one had great acting, chlls to the core, and intelligence. THIS one has poor acting, it's not scary at all, it's dumb and has pure homosexuality in it. I don't even think it's trying to be scary. It's more like a crappy show that came out in the 60's, and it's first and only episode. Lame, lame, lame, lame lame.

Megan H. gave it a 0:
It was the worst movie i have ever seen, it never made any sense it seems like it was thrown in there randomly.

Jeff F. gave it a 4:
Not a very lucid piece of filmmaking. but i did like the cast kim, erica and jeff.
