In Bollywood/Hollywood, a fun loving romp of a movie, the unpredictable is the only constant. After all, life isn't about what's right or wrong. It's about following your heart. (Mongrel Media)

Seattle Post-Intelligencer Sean Axmaker
Mehta's feisty, featherweight romantic comedy makes the case that even the most flamboyant cinematic conventions are as universal as they are exotic, especially when they conspire to produce that glow of happily ever after.

Will prove infectious to those audiences who find themselves sharing the director's frivolous frame of mind.

Fabulous idea/faulty execution is the review.

Perhaps it is simply impossible, even with affection in your heart, to craft an evocative homage to the expansive musical melodramas of Bollywood on a small-scale indie budget.
Read Full Review >Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas
Lacks the sharpness and sophistication necessary for it to appeal beyond Indian audiences.

It's not a movie one feels like hating, but the Hindi musical numbers aren't enough to elevate this over, say, "Pretty Woman."
Read Full Review >TV Guide Maitland McDonagh
Though occasional flashes of the radiantly bi-cultural romp that might have been peek through, writer-director Deepa Mehta's hybrid is strangely clumsy, given that she's an experienced filmmaker familiar with both Hollywood and Bollywood conventions.

It's just mediocrity, further soured by bad intentions.

The average Bollywood routine is passionately cheesy. This movie seems cursed with a lactose intolerance.
Read Full Review >The New York Times Dave Kehr
Disappointingly shallow and not terribly funny romantic comedy.
Read Full Review >Washington Post Nicole Arthur
Surprisingly amateurish attempt at cross-cultural comedy.
Read Full Review >The Hollywood Reporter Kirk Honeycutt
The direction is as flat as the script is thin, forcing actors to stumble through roles that make little sense. Costumes and sets border on the grotesque. Mehta is a fine enough filmmaker that this one can be written off as an aberration. Sometimes East and West really aren't meant to meet.
Read Full Review >Village Voice Michael Atkinson
Too amateurish to lampoon or evoke either film industry, Bollywood/Hollywood is a movie that owes its presence in theaters to a certain ethnic soccer comedy still circulating like a virus.

Mina S. gave it a 10:
A really fine job done by the directer. Good Movie.
Rebecca F. gave it a 9:
The critics are being too harsh on this film, I really enjoyed spending time watching this. I really loved its musical ethics.
Andrew B. gave it a 9:
Agree with James B. that critics are too harsh. After all, this is a light hearted comedy and I would put it in the same class as "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days".
Court K. gave it a 6:
Cute, but I was a little confused at times.
James B. gave it a 9:
Critics are too harsh. This was a fun movie with great music. A bit surreal at times, but still fun. I don't regret the time spent watching it.
