Boston Globe Wesley Morris

As dumb spoofs go, The Comebacks isn't bad. It takes almost every sports movie of the last five years ("Field of Dreams," too) and blends them into a single slapdash comedy.

Film Threat Stina Chyn

It’s mostly eighty-four minutes of puns, double entendres, and Freudian slips.

The Onion (A.V. Club) Scott Tobias

Adhering to few solid comedic principles, The Comebacks swings wildly between lame movie references and slapstick, slightly less lame funny names (such as Aseel Tare, the running back who couldn't possibly be injured) and Airplane!-style spoof, and a few mildly amusing stabs at irony.

Los Angeles Times Gene Seymour

You'll be goaded throughout The Comebacks to think of "Bend It Like Beckham," "Remember the Titans," "Rudy," "Hoosiers," "Field of Dreams" and their ilk. What you also think about is how much this stuff worked better in "Airplane!" or "Blazing Saddles."

The Hollywood Reporter Frank Scheck

Koechner tries hard, but ultimately scores few laughs except for when, like Ferrell, he bares his comically less than toned, fleshy body.

Variety Joe Leydon

An exceptionally lame genre parody that plumbs depths of ineptitude heretofore charted only by the marginally less abysmal "Date Movie."

LA Weekly Luke Y. Thompson

Isn’t as obnoxiously awful as, say, "Epic Movie"; it’s simply not funny in the least.

The New York Times Matt Zoller Seitz

The movie’s low aspirations are depressing because its best gags are agreeably demented.

Someone should tell these guys you can't score a touchdown throwing lateral passes.

TV Guide Ken Fox

We're treated to endless scenes of women getting slammed, thrown and clothes lined, while men's genitals are grabbed, groped, stroked and tasered. It's all just as painful as it sounds.

Austin Chronicle Josh Rosenblatt

It’s too bad the filmmakers didn’t have a longer view of film history, though; maybe their jokes would have been more interesting if they’d been aimed at, say, "Somebody Up There Likes Me" or "The Pride of the Yankees."

The Globe and Mail (Toronto) Jennie Punter

At the end of The Comebacks, Coach is offered job with a college basketball team called The Sequels - a joke perhaps, but all too horrifying a prospect after watching this dull fumble.

Entertainment Weekly Gregory Kirschling

Probably the worst movie that's sludged across my professional eyeballs -- worse than "Daddy Day Camp," "Baby Geniuses 2," and "BloodRayne."

Anonymous gave it a0:
This is the equivalent of Hollywood pooing in a sock and calling it entertainment. I went to the movie, but I was the only one in the entire room. Tastelessly done, all this deserves and all it will ever get is a zero.

Kent C. gave it a1:
How many more parody movies are we going to have to see? After Scary Movie 3, these all went downhill, starting with the disaster known as Date Movie. One can only hope that Meet The Spartans will be a tiny bit better

daniel h. gave it a7:
I don't no what you guys are talking about i was expecting it to be crap but i actually liked it. I don't regret going at all. I not people that saw it and they all liked it too.

Alfred g. gave it a0:
One of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life.

Mike S gave it a0:
Horrible. 1st movie I ever walked out of 20 mins into. Seriously awful.

anonymous ammo gave it an8:
i expected a spoof so i wasn't disappointed. it was funny at parts and lame sometimes just what i anticipated. What made it worth it? Jizminder (Noureen DeWulf) taking off her sari to reveal her in a bikini, seeing that well worth my 8 dollar ticket.

Marcus A. gave it a0:
Crude, tasteless, and inept. To quote Richard Ropert "This Movie Sucks"
