San Francisco Chronicle Mick LaSalle

Late in the picture, Sobieski has some line-readings that are so emotionally full, strange and truthful that really nothing more need be said.

San Francisco Examiner Wesley Morris

Any movie that opens with a Goo Goo Dolls song and ends with a line like "I'm going to live -- just not as long as you" is bound to leave somebody reaching for a Kleenex.

50

Miami Herald Rene Rodriguez

Corny? You bet. But it also proves surprisingly inviting -- for a while, anyway.

50

Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert

Slides too easily into its sentimentality; the characters should have put up more of a struggle.

TV Guide Maitland McDonagh

As for first-time feature director Mark Piznarski, he should be cited for excessive use of slow motion, sun-dappled trees and golden light; one more cliche violation and his license to direct would be forfeit.

The script is drippy, humor-free and old-fashioned:

Nothing wrong with the syrupy romance Here on Earth that a megadose of insulin couldn't fix.

So very general in its characters and story that it actively keeps you from enjoying the simple pleasures of a movie like this.

It would be heartening if the adolescent girls of America turned their backs on this pandering piece of kitsch, but that would be hoping too much.

Alex M. gave it a0:
This is the worst movie ever made. the guy who washes dishes at oriental garden in denton made a movie called homeless in denton that runs intellectual and emotional circles around this drivel. under no circumstances should any human being have to suffer through such unrepentant horse-feces. if your girlfriend asks you to watch this movie, tell her you gave her herpes to teach her a lesson. then further avenge yourself by making her watch Bio-Dome.

Shannon W. gave it a 9:
I love this movie

Rich S. gave it a 2:
I couldn't hear Leelee half the time. Man, this story was so ridiculous; the judge should have made the rich kid go somewhere else for the summer and we would have been spared this awful movie. Leelee is NOT a great actress, despite the fact I adore her. Not much of a movie, not even so good as a bad "teen love" film. It was so predictable and idiotic. For one, why did the rich kid ride the bus BACK to Hooterville after the weekend? He should have had the butler drive him. I found myself fast forwarding thru most of the movie, and didn't miss anything important. Nope, not gonna give this one even ONE star.

Jeni S. gave it a 9:
I loved this movie. It was a change from the happy-go-lucky movies you always see. Plus, any movie with Josh Hartnett is quite alright with me.

Tasha B. gave it a 4:
After reading reviews, I started this movie expecting to hate it, but it turned out to be not that bad, but I would never rent or watch it again. It reminded me WAY too much of A Walk To Remember which is a much better movie (and book which came BEFORE this movie i have to add) and A Walk TO Remember has much better actors.

Michelle T. gave it a 10:
This movie, was excellent. It really was. Lee lee sobieski..was a bit of a two timer..kinda slutty. But other than that, the characters roles were excellent. The story was great, and it really deserves a high rating. People like michael c. bother me..he didn't like it..and he made it clear..but he did say a lot of bs. Who cares about articles of clothing..and if he really hated it..he wouldnt' have come here to rate it. right? Have a good day.

Jessie gave it a 10:
This movie was very good! And it also had two very hot actors playing in it which made the movie 10 times better.
