Boston Globe Ty Burr
This isn't a great movie -- it's barely good, really -- but it gets something about New Hampshire I've rarely seen onscreen: a defiant pride in the way things don't work out. Live Free is a comedy of vastly diminished criminal expectations. That's the fun of it, and the frustration, too.

Live Free or Die is a low-fi farce that technically works. But in the end it feels like a pale version of say "Raising Arizona" or even "After Hours."

Criminally short on laughs as it tries to wring humor from dull activity by dim bulbs.

gina v. gave it a4:
ok ,not the best ,worth watching if you like the die hard films not as good as the other oneslook like they were just looking to make another film to make money there was action and violence
Jared C. gave it a10:
Pretty fun, only if you've watched Live free or Die Hard.

To say that the movie is action packed is an understatement. I felt legitimately tired afterwards. I did laugh a few times, but a lot of jokes felt forced. It felt a little sacreligious to have so many computer effects from a movie where Willis is the anti-technology hero, but it didn't kill it. I had heard of a firesale before, and to see it in effect was cool, but the reason was a little stretched. Anyways, I would have seen it just for Maggie Q. If she was the lead villain, I would have given it an 8.
