When five American college students arrive in Ireland to go on a camping trip with their old college buddy Jake, they are in high spirits. Jake has promised them the ‘trip’ of a lifetime’ because he claims Ireland has the best magic mushrooms in the world. It sounded like it would be great fun. Now that they are tripping things don’t seem so funny. Bluto, one of the gang is missing. Tara thinks he’s dead because she feels she has seen his death before but nobody believes her they think she is just out of it. They’re out of it too. That was the whole point of coming here, but there is something out there, something watching them, something that will kill them if they don’t get out of the forest and get help. (Magnolia Pictures)

San Francisco Chronicle Walter Addiego
Turns into a pedestrian slice 'n' dice feature.

By-the-numbers item, in which five American college students literally get wasted while tripping out on magic mushrooms in rural Ireland, is OK vid fodder with few real scares and not an ounce of originality.

The film's one original moment comes when Bluto has a conversation with a cow. The rest of it, from the distorting lens used randomly to suggest unreality, to the twist ending lifted verbatim from the superior "High Tension," is about as imaginative as a portobello steak with onions.

C. Kenney gave it a3:
It was just so mundane. Imagine what they could have done with a concept based on evil mushies. The possibilities are so far reaching and yet they settled on some crappy slasher crap. The funniest part of the movie is that they pick the creepiest place imaginable to trip out, and decide to go all the way to Ireland to find some mushrooms. I got the movie, because I thought it would be funny to see a bunch of idiots have a nightmarish trip on evil mushrooms, but as it turned out the "shrooms" (a word I never want to use again after hearing it 10,000 times in the movie) had very little to do with most of the action in the movie. It just wasn't realistic enough to its title to be funny, and not suprising enough to be all that enjoyable.
Alex B. gave it a7:
Come on, guys. This movie is not that bad. Love it or leave it. If you are interessed in woods, magic mu shrooms and a good horror story, then you should watch this movie. Don't expect a awesome MUST SEEN MOVIE, but this movie deserves a good rating, because it is not a hollywood production and nots not an asian "the ring" mania...
B Smiph gave it a3:
Waste of time.
Jay H. gave it a5:
Generally average horror flick, not too many surprises in this one but at least the premise is reasonably original. The score is good, the acting isn't bad. It has a decent atmosphere but it's still predictable.
George B. gave it a0:
Gives the title character a bad rap.
[Anonymous] gave it a1:
One of the worst movies in the genre.
