New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman
A genially mellow, consistently entertaining spoof.
Read Full Review >LA Weekly Hazel-Dawn Dumpert
An easygoing work of unforced humor built on gags that should be stupid, but are ultimately too ridiculous to resist.
Read Full Review >The New York Times Stephen Holden
Terminally whimsical, it generates a steady current of humor, much of it off-color.
Read Full Review >Variety Derek Elley
A vulgar, Z-grade variant on last year's "Mystery Men" for those who didn't get their fill the first time around.
Read Full Review >Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas
The Specials is an unfortunate name for a film that's anything but.

Aaron B. gave it a 9:
The reviews of this movie are shortsighted in that they all view it as a spoof. It is not. This is a very intelligent film that humorously explores the private lives of superhoeroes, something no other movie has done. I have yet to meet a person who has seen this movie and not thoroughly enjoyed it.
