Izzy Gets the Fuck Across Town is a well-made showcase for its talented star. And while it doesn’t quite establish Papierniak’s directorial vision, it does hint at what that might be. It’s a fun hour-and-a-half, inessential but entertaining nonetheless.

Revenge is a hugely satisfying horror movie, a real achievement on the parts of all involved.

The first two acts of “Ismael” are satisfying enough to excuse its shark-jumping third. While Desplechin’s new film isn’t great by a long stretch, it does manage to thoroughly scratch a very particular Franco-cine-phile itch. And this hardly needs to be said, but for longtime fans of Desplechin, Ismael’s Ghosts is a must-see.

All I Wish is inoffensive, mostly painless, and only occasionally grating. It is also, however, derivative, confusing, and largely pointless.

There’s a lot wrong with Josie, but the thing that sinks it beyond the possibility of recommendation in any circumstance is its aforementioned third-act twist and ending.

The primary characteristic of Nostalgia is that it’s deathly boring, and difficult to sit through in its entirety.
