▣ Despicable Me 3 Trailers
The third and lowest-scoring installment in the hit animated franchise finds Gru (Steve Carell), Lucy (Kristen Wiig), their daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions facing off against '80s obsessed baddie Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker).
▣ Endless Poetry Trailers
[Out Friday, December 8] Following The Dance of Reality, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s second autobiographical feature (in a planned series of five) shows that the 87-year-old Chilean director isn’t slowing down. Picking up where his last film left off, Jodorowsky, with the help of Christopher Doyle’s cinematography, re-imagines his young adulthood in 1940s and '50s Santiago, where he wanted to become a poet. Jodorowsky’s youngest son, Adan, plays the filmmaker.
▣ Twin Peaks: Season 3
The return of Twin Peaks after a 26-year absence proved to be almost nothing like the original, beloved series ... and also completely unlike anything else on television (now, or ever). Fans may not have gotten as much of their favorite characters across these 16 new episodes as they wanted—screentime was mostly devoted to divisive new characters such as Kyle MacLachlan's Dougie Jones as well as episode-closing music performances from the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Au Revoir Simone, and Nine Inch Nails—nor did they receive the closure they expected. But David Lynch's attention to imagery, sound design, and atmosphere has never been stronger—most notably, in a mind-bending eighth episode filled with memorable, haunting scenes. Plus, David Bowie is a giant tea kettle now.

▣ Detroit Trailers
Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal—the director and writer, respectively, of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty—returned this summer with their third straight critically acclaimed drama, though it managed to fly mostly under the radar. Here, they take on the riots that rocked Detroit in the summer of 1967. John Boyega leads an impressive cast that also includes Jack Reynor, Will Poulter, Ben O'Toole, Hannah Murray, Anthony Mackie, Kaitlyn Dever, Jason Mitchell, and John Krasinski.
▣ England Is Mine Trailers
Jack Lowden plays future The Smiths frontman Morrissey in this biopic concentrating on his years just prior to forming that legendary band. Directed by Mark Gill, the film was a disappointment for critics, who admired the performances but questioned the film's choice of ignoring the more interesting parts of Morrissey's career.
▣ Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailers
This somewhat inferior sequel to the critically divisive but financially successful Kingsman: The Secret Service returns director Matthew Vaughn and stars Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Colin Firth, whose Harry Hart was presumed dead at the end of the first film. Joining them in their spy games is an American contingent called the Statesman, featuring Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry and Pedro Pascal. Their target this time is played by Julianne Moore.
▣ The Trip To Spain Trailers
Is The Trip to Spain another hilarious excursion with stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, or a classic case of diminishing returns? Critics were a bit divided, but if you liked The Trip and The Trip to Italy, chances are this third installment—again edited down for American audiences from a six-episode British television series—will not disappoint. Director Michael Winterbottom returns, as do Claire Keelan as Emma and Marta Barrio as Yolanda.
▣ The Unknown Girl Trailers
When it premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, The Unknown Girl received the worst reviews of any film directed by the usually unimpeachable Belgian filmmaking brothers Jean Pierre and Luc Dardenne. But that doesn't mean it's a bad film. Girl examines a young doctor’s attempt to assuage her guilt as she searches for the identity of a woman whom she mistakenly failed to let into the small clinic where she works. Adèle Haenel (Love at First Fight) stars.

▣ Dunkirk Trailers
One of 2017's best films and a likely Oscar contender, Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic was filmed on in 65mm and IMAX, so you'll probably want to watch this on the biggest screen you can find. With a large ensemble cast (Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy and newcomers Fionn Whitehead, Aneurin Barnard, Harry Styles, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden, and Barry Keoghan), Nolan's film utilizes a nonlinear structure to dramatize Operation Dynamo, the successful 1940 evacuation of Allied troops from the French harbor of Dunkirk by a mostly civilian fleet.
▣ The LEGO Ninjago Movie Trailers
In the latest (and worst) animated comedy based on the toy line, Lloyd (voiced by Dave Franco) and his Ninja friends (Michael Peña, Abbi Jacobson, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, and Fred Armisen), with the help of Master Wu (Jackie Chan), must protect Ninjago City from the evil warlord Garmadon (Justin Theroux), who happens to be Lloyd’s father.
▣ mother! Trailers
It's probably 2017's most divisive film. Described as audacious, ambitious, elliptical, bizarre, insane, pretentious, frustrating, ludicrous, and divisive by critics—including by many who like the film (outnumbering those who don't)—the latest from filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) promises to be like no other film you've seen this year (or ever), and it has a final climax that critics can't stop talking about. Jennifer Lawrence stars alongside Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
▣ Stronger Trailers
Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this true story about Jeff Bauman, who lost his legs at the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing while waiting for his ex-girlfriend (Tatiana Maslany) at the finish line. He helps identify one of the bombers, but the months of physical and emotional rehab take their toll as his journey tests his family and inspires a community. David Gordon Green (Our Brand Is Crisis, Pineapple Express) directs, and the supporting cast includes Miranda Richardson and Clancy Brown.
▣ Victoria and Abdul Trailers
Stephen Frears re-teams with his Philomena star, Judi Dench, for this story of the unlikely friendship between Queen Victoria and Abdul Karim (Ali Fazal), a clerk from India who visits England to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Adapted by Lee Hall from a book by Shrabani Basu and also starring Olivia Williams, Michael Gambon, Eddie Izzard, Tim Pigott-Smith, and Simon Callow, the film received somewhat disappointing reviews at its Venice premiere this fall.

▣ Brawl In Cell Block 99 Trailers
Writer-director S. Craig Zahler’s follow-up to Bone Tomahawk stars Vince Vaughn as a low-level drug dealer who must fight his way through the prison system to save his wife (Jennifer Carpenter) and unborn daughter. Don Johnson plays the dangerous warden, and Udo Kier is a henchman for a Mexican drug cartel. As with his debut, Zahler has made an ultra-violent film that a majority of critics like (save for its excessive length).
▣ The Mountain Between Us Trailers
Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are stranded on an icy mountain after their plane crashes in The Mountain Between Us. Hany Abu-Assad (Omar, The Idol) directs from an adaptation of Charles Martin’s novel by Chris Weitz and J. Mills Goodloe. Reviews from the film's premiere at TIFF were middling, with critics finding the leads' performances and chemistry only partially compensating for the story's predictability.
