▣ McQueen
Trailers
Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui’s critically acclaimed portrait of fashion designer Alexander McQueen covers his life from its modest beginnings to its tragic end by combining his personal archives, footage from his ground-breaking shows, and interviews with his family and friends into something intimate.
▣ Mission: Impossible – Fallout
Trailers
The sixth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise had to follow the two most critically acclaimed entries—Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. Yet it surpassed both of those films, scoring the best reviews in franchise history (and ranking among 2018's top films). McQuarrie returns as writer-director, and Cruise puts his body through more daring stunts (including one which resulted in a broken ankle) for a story that finds Ethan Hunt along with his IMF team (Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) and Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust and Michelle Monaghan’s Julia Meade-Hunt trying to save the world from an escaped terrorist (Sean Harris). Along for the ride are Henry Cavill (and his mustache) as CIA agent August Walker, Vanessa Kirby’s White Widow, plus Alec Baldwin and Angela Bassett.
▣ Support the Girls
Trailers
The latest well-reviewed feature from writer-director Andrew Bujalski (Results, Computer Chess) captures a day in the life of Lisa Conroy (Regina Hall), the manager at Double Whammies, a “sports bar with curves,” where she protects her girls (Haley Lu Richardson, Shayna McHayle, Dylan Gelula) and handles the unpleasant owner (James LeGros).

▣ Colette Trailers
Keira Knightley stars as the groundbreaking French writer of the title in this biopic from Wash Westmoreland, the co-director (with his late partner Richard Glatzer) of Still Alice. Detailing Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette’s first marriage to Henry Gauthier-Villars (Dominic West), who took credit for writing her first four novels, the film explores Collette’s fight for creative and personal independence.
▣ The Equalizer 2 Trailers
Director Antoine Fuqua and star Denzel Washington return for a somewhat less impressive sequel to their surprise 2014 hit The Equalizer, itself an adaptation of the 1980s television series. Pedro Pascal, Melissa Leo, and Bill Pullman also star.

▣ En el Séptimo Día (On the Seventh Day) Trailers
The latest from writer-director Jim McKay (Our Song) tells the story of José, a bicycle delivery man and one of many undocumented workers living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. In addition to being hard-working, José is the captain of his soccer team. They play every Sunday, but when his boss demands that José works on a Sunday, it coincides with the league championship. Will he put his job at risk and support his teammates, or will he acquiesce to his boss’s request?
▣ Fahrenheit 11/9 Trailers
Michael Moore (Where to Invade Next) is back with his particular brand of documentary, and this time he’s taking on Donald Trump, the water crisis in Flint, the Parkland school shooting, and both political parties, with a title that echoes his Palme d’Or-winning documentary Fahrenheit 9/11. The new film may not fully cohere, but that doesn't mean critics dislike it.
▣ The House With a Clock in Its Walls Trailers
Maybe there's a reason that John Bellairs' classic 1973 children's mystery novel about a 10-year-old orphaned magician hasn't been brought to the big screen before now. While it's not terrible, this recent film adaptation by horror master Eli Roth is a bit of a disappointment, with critics deeming it a Spielberg clone that errs in emphasizing CGI effects over feeling. Jack Black and Cate Blanchett head the cast.
▣ The Predator Trailers
Writer-director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys) played Hawkins in 1987’s Predator. This year, he put his own spin on the franchise with a story that brings the universe’s most lethal hunters to Earth. Written by Black and Fred Dekker, who previously teamed-up on The Monster Squad, this fourth film (or sixth if you include Alien crossovers AVP and AVPR) in the series is set between the Danny Glover-starring Predator 2 and Nimrod Antal’s Adrien Brody-starring Predators. Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, and Trevante Rhodes also star. It's fair to call it a disappointment based on all the names attached, though no Predator film has ever received a green Metascore.
▣ A Simple Favor Trailers
Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively star in this campy but fairly well executed thriller from director Paul Feig, a change of pace from his usual genre of choice, comedy (Ghostbusters, Spy, and Bridesmaids). Kendrick plays Stephanie, a mommy vlogger who befriends Lively’s mysterious Emily. When Emily disappears, Emily's husband Sean (Henry Golding) becomes a suspect.
▣ Venom Trailers
In this Marvel Comics adaptation (part of Sony's new Marvel Universe, which is not related to Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe), Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a reporter who is infected with an alien symbiote that creates the alternate being of the title. The man conducting the dangerous symbiote research is Riz Ahmed’s Carlton Drake, a demented genius who faces off against Venom in the form of the symbiote Riot. Ruben Fleischer (Gangster Squad) directs a cast that also includes Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, and Reid Scott. The result is simultaneously the year's worst comic book movie and one of 2018's highest-grossing films, with box office receipts in excess of $800 million.

▣ White Boy Rick Trailers
Based on the true story of Richard Wershe Jr. (aka "White Boy Rick"), who at age 14 became the youngest FBI informant in history, this 1980s-set Detroit crime drama surrounds young newcomer Richie Merritt with a strong cast led by Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rory Cochrane, Piper Laurie, Bruce Dern, Bel Powley, and Brian Tyree Henry. Yann Demange ('71) directs.
