63 Good Kill Watch Trailer
Director Andrew Niccol reunites with his Gattaca star, Ethan Hawke, for a look at the life of a fighter pilot who, after six tours of duty, now fights the enemy by guiding drones from a bunker in the Nevada desert. As he begins to question his new job, his relationships with is wife (January Jones) and commanding officer (Bruce Greenwood) become increasingly strained. Critics like the timely subject matter even if the story itself isn't always compelling.
68 The Harvest Watch Trailer
The first feature film in 14 years from director John McNaughton (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer) is a creepy, suspenseful thriller starring Samantha Morton and Michael Shannon. The under-the-radar film earned some fans on the festival circuit and among critics.
75 I'll See You in My Dreams Watch Trailer
Another under-the-radar but well-reviewed release that played arthouses this summer, this romantic dramedy finds Blythe Danner starring as a widow who, now in her '70s, seeks to re-enter the dating world. The strong cast also includes Sam Elliott, June Squibb, Malin Åkerman, Martin Starr, Rhea Perlman, and Mary Kay Place.
89 Mad Max: Fury Road Watch Trailer
After a series of action-filled trailers that seemed to hold little back, expectations were fairly high for George Miller's fourth Mad Max film (and first since 1985's Beyond Thunderdome). Surprisingly, not only were those expectations met, they were exceeded: thanks to its inventive (and bonkers) action sequences and surprisingly compelling story, Fury Road was this summer's best-reviewed live-action major film, and some fans are even clamoring for a best picture nomination. There's no Mel Gibson to be found, but there is Tom Hardy in a mostly non-speaking leading role as Max; he's joined by Charlize Theron’s determined Furiosa as they try to escape the clutches of the masked villain Immortan Joe, played by Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toecutter in the original Mad Max).

1 United Passions Watch Trailer
Is it too early to hand out worst movie of the century honors? This hagiography about FIFA head Sepp Blatter (played by Tim Roth) was funded by the global soccer organization itself and reached American theaters in the same week when Blatter resigned amid a major international scandal. Only two other films in the 21st century (The Singing Forest and Chaos) have received a Metascore of 1, our lowest possible score.

67 Furious 7 Watch Trailer
The seventh entry in the Fast & Furious franchise finds James Wan taking over directing duties. But the on-screen crew returns: Vin Diesel, Tyrese, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Elsa Pataky, Lucas Black, Dwayne Johnson, and the late Paul Walker, whose role was completed with help from his brother and footage from the earlier films. Newcomers include Kurt Russell, Tony Jaa, and Djimon Hounsou.
76 The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst
HBO's must-discussed miniseries broke news of its own when it debuted earlier this year. A twisty true crime story from Capturing the Friedmans director Andrew Jarecki, the six-episode documentary is the result of a seven-year investigation into the life of Robert Durst, who grew up the son of a New York real estate billionaire and was accused of three crimes: the disappearance (and presumed murder) of his wife in 1982, the murder of a key witness in that case in Beverly Hills 18 years later, and the brutal killing of Durst's neighbor in Galveston, Texas (where Durst had been living a double life dressed as a woman) the following year. The reclusive Durst, who has not (yet) been convicted of any of the crimes and maintains his innocence, made himself available for numerous interviews with Jarecki, who previously directed a feature film (All Good Things) that presented a fictionalized take on Durst's case. That willingness to talk—as well as key evidence uncovered by the filmmakers—could finally prove to be Durst's undoing, thanks in part to a shocking scene in The Jinx's final episode.
80 Love & Mercy Watch Trailer
Paul Dano and John Cusack alternate portraying Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson (as a young man in the 1960s and an older man in the 1980s, respectively) in this unique biopic from producer turned director Bill Pohlad. Paul Giamatti and Elizabeth Banks co-star. Critics hailed it as one of the best music biopics to come along in years.
65 The Overnight Watch Trailer
This R-rated sex comedy explores what happens when a recently relocated Seattle couple played by Adam Scott (I Love Films, Great Bits) and Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black) agree to attend a playdate with their kids at the house of an eccentric Los Angeles couple (Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godreche). As the night continues and the kids are put to bed, much more is revealed—so much more that prosthetics are used for certain appendages.

63 Pitch Perfect 2 Watch Trailer
This fairly solid sequel to the surprise 2012 hit Pitch Perfect finds the Bellas taking on the world (especially the German team Das Sound Machine) at an international a cappella competition. Original stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, and Adam DeVine return, as do judges John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks. Banks also makes her feature directing debut from a script by Kay Cannon, who adapted the original film from Mickey Rapkin’s book. New additions to the cast include Hailee Steinfeld, Katey Sagal, and David Cross.
73 Results Watch Trailer
Andrew Bujalski’s follow-up to his 2013 Sundance hit Computer Chess is an Austin-set rom-com about a pair of personal trainers, played by Guy Pearce and Cobie Smulders. Their private and professional lives are disrupted by a rich, lonely New York transplant played by Kevin Corrigan. The results are smarter and more subversive than your standard rom-com fare, according to critics.

66 Avengers: Age of Ultron [Friday 10/2] Watch Trailer
Joss Whedon's slightly lesser sequel to 2012‘s The Avengers follows Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they try to clean up after one of their own, Tony Stark, after his peacekeeping program (voiced by James Spader) goes rogue. Joining returning stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, and Scarlett Johansson are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Andy Serkis.
38 Entourage Watch Trailer
The long-running HBO comedy series moved to the big screen for the first time this summer to wrap up all those story threads left hanging in the 2011 finale. (Oh, wait—there weren't any? That might explain the low Metascore.) Stars Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Jeremy Piven return, so if you really find yourself missing E and Turtle, go crazy.
47 Poltergeist (2015) Watch Trailer
Gil Kenan (City of Ember) directs this ultimately pointless remake of the Steven Spielberg-produced 1982 haunted house classic. The details have been updated a bit to reflect today's world, but the story remains largely the same—with the results disappointingly lifeless and tame, according to most critics.(Audiences mostly stayed away, too.) Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Jared Harris star.
75 Spy Watch Trailer
Star Melissa McCarthy re-teams with Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig for this well-reviewed spoof of the spy genre (which works equally as well as a comedy and an action film, no small thing) that finds McCarthy portraying a desk-bound CIA analyst who is thrust into the field to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer. Jude Law plays a James Bond-like agent, and Jason Statham puts a scene-stealing comedic spin on his usual tough-guy role.
65 Unexpected Watch Trailer
Cobie Smulders stars as a science teacher at a Chicago high school who bonds with one of her students when she discovers they are both pregnant. Kris Swanberg, wife of prolific actor-writer-director Joe Swanberg, directs and co-writes (with Megan Mercier). Critics mostly liked the low-key film's attention to detail and its performances.
