Watch the first full trailer for The Hangover Part 2

If what you want is more of the same but in Thailand, then The Hangover Part 2 aims to please. Who’s missing this time? It’s Stu’s brother-in-law to be Teddy (Mason Lee), and Phil (Bradley Cooper), Alan (Zach Galifianakis), and Stu (Ed Helms) -- with the help of Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) and a monkey -- must find him before the wedding. Todd Phillips returns to the directing chair with new writers Craig Mazin (Superhero Movie) and Scot Armstrong (Old School) providing the script. The Hangover Part 2 will be in theaters May 26.

The Three Musketeers trailer

The latest film version of Alexander Dumas’ classic novel stars Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) as D’Artagnan, and Matthew Macfadyen (Robin Hood), Ray Stevenson (Kill the Irishman), and Luke Evans (Tamara Drewe) as the Musketeers Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. In this version of the story, they go up against Cardinal Richelieu, played by Christoph Waltz, the Duke of Buckingham, played by Orlando Bloom, and M’lady De Winter, played by Milla Jovovich. Paul W. S. Anderson (Resident Evil: Afterlife) directs from a script by Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’s Diary) and Alex Litvak (Predators). Check it out in 3D beginning October 14.

Amy Adams will play Lois Lane in Superman: Man of Steel

While many people are still wondering who will play the villain in the latest screen version of Superman, Hero Complex reported this week that Amy Adams will play Lois Lane for director Zack Snyder. Adams was nominated for best supporting actress this year for her role in The Fighter, and Snyder had only glowing things to say of his new star, stating, “We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.” The rest of the confirmed cast consists of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Ma and Pa Kent. Any thoughts on who should play Jimmy Olsen? Superman: Man of Steel will hit theaters in December 2012.

The first trailer for Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris

Woody Allen’s latest has one of his typically amazing casts (Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen, Marion Cotillard, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, Kurt Fuller, Lea Seydoux, and the “First Lady” of France, Carla Bruni), is set in another beautiful European city, and is opening this year’s Cannes film festival. American filmgoers will be able to catch it in theaters beginning May 20.

A clip from Thor

Here’s an early look at Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular character. The clip shows Thor’s first encounter with three Earthlings, played by Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, and Kat Dennings (providing comic relief). The film, directed by Kenneth Branagh, hits theaters May 6.

Snow White updates

It has been a tough week for Viggo Mortensen. First, we hear that he’s no longer in the running to play General Zod in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, but presumably that was because he would be joining Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart as the huntsman in Snow White and the Huntsman. Now, however, THR is reporting that talks have broken down for that role. Could he flirt with Superman again, will talks resume or will he move on to another project? No one knows, but what is certain is that the other Snow White film, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White is pushing forward with Julia Roberts as the evil queen and now Armie Hammer (The Social Network) confirmed as Prince Andrew Alcott. Deadline also reports that Saoirse Ronan is in talks to play Snow White. The Brothers Grimm: Snow White will be directed by Tarsem (The Fall) and released July 29, 2012.

Everything Must Go trailer

Will Ferrell takes a turn for the serious in his latest film about a man who gets fired and returns home to find his wife has left him all in the same day. The trailer highlights the lighter moments of the film, which, according to early reviews, gets pretty dark. The strong supporting cast includes Rebecca Hall, Michael Pena, Stephen Root, and Laura Dern. Based on a Raymond Carver short story and adapted and directed for the screen by Dan Rush, Everything Must Go gets a limited release May 13.

The Hunger Games casting rumors

With Jennifer Lawrence cast as Katniss Everdeen, director Gary Ross turned his attention this week to casting the two major male roles in The Hunger Games trilogy. Heat Vision reports that Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right), Alexander Ludwig (Escape to Witch Mountain), Hunter Parrish (Weeds), Lucas Till (Battle: Los Angeles), and Evan Peters (Kick-Ass) are up for Peeta, the boy from Katniss’ hometown who once saved her life and later confesses his love for her. Gale, who is two years older than Katniss, hunts with her and plays a larger role as the story progresses, could be played by Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place), Robbie Amell, or Drew Roy. The Hunger Games is slated for a March 23, 2012 release.

Takashi Miike goes samurai in 13 Assassins trailer

Takashi Miike is one of the most interesting directors working today. He tackles taboo subjects and multiple genres in films ranging from Audition and Dead or Alive to The City of Lost Souls and Visitor Q to Ichi the Killer and Gozu. His latest looks to be a straightforward samurai flick. The premise is pretty basic. Thirteen samurai face off against a sadistic lord and his men. The film is available on VOD currently, but the theater might be the place to catch this one. It gets a limited release April 29.

Even more martial arts in the first True Legend trailer

Yuen Woo-Ping is the fight choreographer behind The Matrix trilogy, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, both volumes of Kill Bill, Kung Fu Hustle, and another 30 or more titles. With True Legend, he steps into the role of director to tell the story of Su Qi-Er, a wealthy man, who, after losing everything to his evil brother, dedicates himself to perfecting his martial arts technique so he can take revenge and reunite his family. The film stars Man Cheuk Chiu as Su Qi-Er as well as Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Jay Chou (The Green Hornet), and the late David Carradine. True Legend will get a limited release May 13.

Bill Murray will play FDR

Vulture reported this week that Bill Murray will play Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the thirty-second President of the United States in Hyde Park on the Hudson. The film will be based on the British radio play of the same name and Roger Michell (Morning Glory, Notting Hill) will direct. The story revolves around the affair between FDR and his distant cousin Margaret Suckley, and takes place during the first visit to America by the British monarchy in June 1939. No word yet on who might play Eleanor Roosevelt or Miss Suckley.

Warner preps Tales from the Gangster Squad

Warner Bros. wants Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling to star in Tales From the Gangster Squad, which tells the story of a special L.A.P.D. anti-crime unit set up in the 1940’s to combat the western migration of the East Coast Mafia headed by Mickey Cohen. According to Deadline, Penn is wanted for the role of Cohen, while Gosling would play a cop trying to hunt him down. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) is set to direct from a script by cop-turned-screenwriter Will Beall (Castle), which he adapted from a series of articles in the Los Angeles Times by Paul Lieberman.

Cristiada trailer

This epic tale of the Cristeros War, which lasted from 1926-1929 when the Mexican government attempted to secularize the country, is the debut feature for director Dean Wright. The first-time director was able to convince plenty of fine actors to participate in his debut, including Andy Garcia, Peter O’Toole, Bruce Greenwood, Eva Longoria, Oscar Isaac, Bruce McGill, Nestor Carbonell, and Ruben Blades, but no release date has been set.

Oz, The Great and Powerful update

Variety confirmed this week that Mila Kunis will play one of three witches in Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful. The story is a prequel of sorts to The Wizard of Oz as it traces the arrival of a “snake oil salesman and illusionist” played by James Franco, whose hot air balloon is swept up in a tornado to Oz where he then battles three witches for control of the magical world. Kunis will play Theodora, who turns evil after her romantic advances are rejected by Franco. No word yet on who might play Glinda the Good Witch or Evanora, the oldest sister.
