Season 4 of the fan- (and critic-) favorite vampire comedy kicks off with back-to-back new episodes tonight on FX (and tomorrow on Hulu). Picking up after last season's finale—yes, Colin Robinson is still a baby, and Laszlo takes it upon himself to raise him—the new episodes will find the vampires forced to do a bit of home renovation as their Staten Island mansion falls into disrepair, while other storylines include Nadja pursuing her dream of opening a vampire nightclub. The series was recently renewed for two additional seasons.

Little noticed when it first debuted but quickly the recipient of massive critical acclaim, Nathan Fielder's Comedy Central series Nathan for You is one of the most remarkable comedy shows of the past decade (if not all time). After it ended its four-season run (with an all-time great finale) in 2017, Fielder went on to produce another acclaimed, sui generis TV experiment: HBO's How to With John Wilson. Now he returns with his own new six-episode HBO series—one that should appeal to fans of both of those prior shows. Once again, Fielder works with ordinary people to improve their lives. But while the subjects in his prior show were entrepreneurs, the new series goes beyond business; instead, Fielder utilizes a team of actors and crewpeople to help people rehearse an upcoming major life moment by building a simulation of reality.

Arriving on Netflix a week after it opens in theaters—as the streamer's most expensive movie to date thanks to its $200-million-plus budget—this spy thriller co-written and directed by the Russo brothers is adapted from Mark Greaney's book series. Ryan Gosling stars as Court Gentry, the CIA's top agent, who becomes the target of a global manhunt led by a former colleague (Chris Evans) after Gentry uncovers signs of a conspiracy within the agency. Ana de Armas, Wagner Moura, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, and Regé-Jean Page also star.

A film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's best-known work was in development for decades but never came to fruition. Tom Sturridge stars as Morpheus, who attempts to restore his rule (in the present day, rather than the original story's 1980s setting) following a century of captivity, while Gwendoline Christie plays Lucifer and Vivienne Acheampong plays the librarian Lucienne, a gender-swapped take on the comics' Lucien. Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Patton Oswalt, Mark Hamill, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, David Thewlis, Joely Richardson, Stephen Fry, and Jenna Coleman are just some of the other names in the sprawling cast. Ron Howard directs a fictionalized depiction of the dramatic rescue of members of a boys soccer team (and their coach) from a flooded cave in Thailand in 2018—an event also chronicled in the recent documentary The Rescue. The new film stars Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell, and Joel Edgerton, and it has experienced a few hiccups on its way to reaching audiences, though not for the usual reasons. The MGM/UA-produced film actually scored so highly in test screenings that the distributor opted to cancel its planned April release and hold it for awards season. But Thirteen Lives became an Amazon property after the one-time bookstore acquired MGM, and Amazon wanted the film out sooner. (Or maybe its algorithm did.) So here it is on Prime Video following a one-week-only, awards-qualifying theatrical run.

Few people remember that Penny Marshall's classic 1992 sports comedy, about a WWII-era professional women's baseball league, was adapted into a television series once before: In 1993, for CBS, where it lasted all of three episodes before getting pulled from the schedule. But Amazon's new reboot is guaranteed to do better: Eight episodes will stream today. Only the underlying 1943 women's pro league setting remains in the new series, which comes from Abbi Jacobson (co-creator and star of Broad City) and Will Graham (Mozart in the Jungle); otherwise, the cast, characters and story will be almost entirely new, and the women will be playing for a different team (not the Peaches). Jacobson stars alongside D'Arcy Carden, Kelly McCormack, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Chanté Adams, and Kate Berlant, while Nick Offerman plays the team's manager. Also expected to appear is Rosie O'Donnell, the one returning cast member from the original film.

What will likely be the most expensive TV series of all time—with a budget reportedly twice that for the entire LOTR film trilogy, though it does come with free two-day shipping—finally makes its debut after years of production. Filmed in New Zealand like Peter Jackson's movies, prequel series The Rings of Power is not directly adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's books but instead depicts a brand new story set in the same world but taking place in the "Second Age," several millennia prior to the events of The Hobbit during a time in which the rings of power were forged by Sauron. Settings include the island kingom of Númenor and the Elvish capital, Lindon. J.A. Bayona directs the first two episodes, while the remaining S1 episodes come from Wayne Che Yip and Charlotte Brandstrom.
