Even if you're not the fan of the 18 wheelers, do yourself a favor and try this game. Nothing can replicate that peculiar feeling of driving across the States at 4AM while your radio is tuned to "Road to hell".
Playing American Truck Simulator is really like taking on an extra job, although it never feels that way. The progress you make is slow, but that makes it all the more rewarding when you save up enough money for those nice new tyres you wanted. It might be worth waiting for some more areas to be added, but if you’ve ever dreamt of a great American road trip, American Truck Simulator is just about as good as it gets without doing the real thing.
I like it more than ETS, but it's just a matter of preference. They're both fantastic games. The map of ETS looks rather samey - especially the older regions - while this one happens to be much more scenic in my opinion. The base game consists mainly of desert areas though. It's still a 10 for me - like every other game that you can play indefinitely.
While a little more realism would make American Truck Simulator more fun, paradoxical as that may sound, there’s no escaping how fantastically playable it is.
American Truck Simulator can impress if we haven't seen the popular series before. New theater of operations is certainly interesting, but there's just not enough important additions to gameplay. It's hard to see the game as something more than just an expansion pack.
American Truck Simulator is not a completely new game. Despite whatever its developers say, this is just a big stand-alone expansion for Europe Truck Simulator 2, complete with the same engine, UI and all-too familiar problems.
god damn you gamers are entitled stupid **** this game is the best in its genre, its a damn good game, that releases high quality dlc expansions every year. id give this game an 8 but the the reasons for the o-1 reviews are so **** i have to help balance this.
Hello, this is a default review because i'm forced to use 75 characters. I'll edit this review in the future talking about the game, don't worry ;)
My final rate is: 7
EN:
Worse than ETS2. The map is still extremely small, as is the number of trucks. But extremely beautiful landscapes of the western part of the United States. The ride is so relaxing.
SRB:
Lošije od ETS2. Mapa je i dalje izuzetno mala, broj kamiona takođe. Ali izuzetno lepi predeli zapadnog dela SAD-a. Vožnja je tako opuštajuća.
Right. It's the exact same as ETS2, same EVERYTHING but new trucks. Being from europe, I have no interest in the exact same game with the only difference not being able to go to my country.
American ats:
Ets 2 dx 9 ( improved but still same old crap )
Same pathetic physics from ets 1 sdts ets 2 ( same engine )
NO dmg models ( LOL )
No plausible, authentic physics
Even smaller world scale so far in the 2 current available states nevada and california
Pathetic redarded on rails AI thats not even worthy of the name ai ( also it doesnt obey the same physics as the player )
Idiotic road signs stop from 65 mph to 0 in 1 meter ( devs are living in their own little world thats got nothing to do with the real one )
Unreal ramps / exits/ highway exits ( too short , narrow )
Unfinished game as it is
Its not a simulator its an truck driving game whoever thinks its playing a simulator its either a lunatic or paid by scs to advertise it, at any rate if you loved ets 2 ats is the same only in america this time.
SummaryExperience legendary American trucks and deliver various cargoes across sunny California and sandy Nevada. American Truck Simulator takes you on a journey through the breathtaking landscapes and widely recognized landmarks around the States.
