Overall, Batbarian: Testament of the Primordials is a simple game, but a very good one. I heartily recommend it to anyone who’s willing to put up with a bit of trial-and-error.
I am so deeply in love with Batbarian. Not because it’s a brilliant
Metroid-ish platform game, which it is. Not because it has excellent
art and animations, which it does. But because it’s a game that wants
to be played.
This game is amazing worth every dollar....very well priced for the amount of content you get and if you love action platformers you will love this pick it up today you won't be disappointed. Love love love it.
I had a ton of fun playing Batbarian and I highly recommend it. If you like Metroidvanias but with a touch of Humour and puzzle you should really check it out! It is clearly a labour of love!
A wonderfully crafted Metroidvania that should have genre fans plenty excited. It's blending of combat, platforming, and puzzling keeps the gameplay fresh and varied throughout its entire 20-hour story. It may not be the most revolutionary game ever made, but it does what it set out to do very well.
Batbarian: Testament of the Primordials is a very solid Metroidvania game. While the story isn't anything special, the humor in the writing is good enough to keep you paying attention to the cut scenes. The level design is well done, and it complements the bat powers. The combat is good enough, even if the leveling system may not be to everyone's liking, and the various gameplay tweaks mean that there's a good chance players can tackle this from beginning to end. For genre fans, Batbarian is worth checking out.
Despite my problems with the combat and supreme frustration at failing to find the true ending, I remain impressed by Batbarian. The characters are winning, the puzzles are brilliantly constructed, and it looks fantastic. While I can wish that the developers had done a little more to make the secrets a little more accessible, I can’t criticize their craftsmanship.
Batbarian is a hilarious platformer and Metroidvania game, with tons of puzzles and secrets to find. This Indie is a must check out if you enjoy these genres.
Music - It's full of rhythms I can vibe with, and if I go into the menu and idle for a bit, I don't tire of the music one bit.
Art style and Graphics - Pixel art isn't my favorite art style by a long shot, but this is a unique style that is enjoyable.
Fighting/Combat - Not too difficult, but not too easy either. You may think you have everything down, but then you find a new trick to make an enemy or boss easier.
Story - This game is not for the story, but rather the comedy and the references that keep you laughing.
Replay-ability - I already have two save files, and I'm aiming for 100% completion.
Overall - With how long I've been following this game and waiting for the release, it's most likely my GOTY.

This game is awesome. If you like games that take lots of the best parts of classics, while also adding new ideas to keep it fresh, look no further. Despite being very different in a lot of ways, I do get reminded of the Messenger by the game. That is about as high a praise as I can give an indie platformer nowadays.
I give it 85%. It's fun to find a game like this. A mix of old Metroid and Prince of Persia with some nice options to help along the way. Update: Around the ending the game becomes much harder with the timing puzzles. I hate this but I had fun anyway.
SummaryBatbarian: Testament of the Primordials is a snarky action-adventure puzzle game with a good dose of humor. Explore hundreds of secret-filled rooms, fight big bosses, gather companions for your party and use the powers of Pip -your bat buddy- to solve puzzles and escape the eldritch abyss.
