Far Cry New Dawn shares a lot of great similarities with Far Cry 5, but it’s the minor tweaks that allow it to stand as its own title. With so much to do, so many places to explore, and a post-apocalyptic world that is grounded in realism, there is no shortage of entertainment to be had in Hope County. While Mickey and Lou may not seem as threatening as previous instalments’ villains, they and the Highwaymen with their vibrant neon graffiti and motocross-influenced gear are definitely a force to be reckoned with. Welcome back to Hope County – and good luck.
Far Cry New Dawn is your regularly scheduled stop-gap Far Cry, with some lovely tweaks like the ranked enemies and weapons, and a fantastical element that reaches its natural conclusion.
No sabia que esperar de este juego, pero cuando lo empece a jugar me parecio muy divertido, la unica pega es que los enemigos son esponjas absorbiendo los disparos jaja
Far Cry: New Dawn takes us into a post-apocalyptic Montana, which is fascinating and insidious at the same time. The story is nice, but the evil twins aren't as good of a collective nemesis as the previous one was and the RPG elements don't feel solid as they should.
The replayable Outposts and Expeditions are a blast (even moreso in co-op) and the mild RPG mechanics of base building is a great start, even if it needs to be expanded upon. However, in a larger sense, the adventure is brought down by a comparatively small size and cookie-cutter bad guys. New Dawn isn’t a terrible experience, but it would have been better served by being delivered as DLC material, not passed off as a full game.
Although there's fun to be had in New Dawn, it feels a bit like a downgrade compared to Far Cry 5. An okay story, weak antagonists and mostly empty world are being held up by the franchise's usual standard for combat and graphics.
Far Cry: New Dawn can quite easily provide a weekend of fun, but when it comes to recalling your favourite games of 2019, don't expect to remember this post-apocalyptic adventure. Its streamlined RPG elements do add some welcome structure, but this trek through Hope County may seem familiar to a fault. It's almost a shame that Ubisoft didn't go all-in on making New Dawn a totally over-the-top spin-off, rather than a sequel that struggles to tell an all-too-serious story.
If New Dawn is as mute and monotonous about the issues that led to the nuclear war and the philosophies that shape its vision of America, that’s because it’s only interested in serving up a gamified version of survival, logic be damned.
Just getting back to Far Cry New Dawn in preparation for Far Cry 6. I'm really enjoying the game. I like all the RPG progression unlocks. The style and color palette are more creative, lively. I like oddball animals. Most entertaining Far Cry I've played. I like when they take this franchise to something more interesting than just foliage and guns like the Far Cry 5: Lost on Mars DLC.
Same map as far cry 5 but who cares? it's different enough, especially if you haven't played Far Cry 5 in a long time. The rpg mechanics are a great addition in my opinion. It makes things different in the formula
Far Cry New Dawn overall is an ok game, I enjoyed it. But I thought it was too short and the little story it had didn't please me, the missions are a little fun, the twins aren't good villains, and they almost don't appear, just by voice. Gameplay is almost the same as Far Cry 5 with few changes, and as in FC5 I liked it. And when I played (2022/2023) I found some bugs, but none interfered with my gameplay. Also I found the AI to be a little bad, especially the allies. In general, the game is more than for less, it was last of all the Far Cry I've played (3,5,4 and ND), but as I said, that doesn't mean the game was bad.
In my opinion, the worst game in the Far Cry series. The game doesn't offer anything new, except for the very chopped map of Far Cry 5. The two main female baddies, who are supposed to be "badass", are cringe and you just pray that the dialogues with them end as soon as possible and so does the whole game.
Another thing that's chopped is the weapon customization.
The game has an absolutely broken detection and stealth system. I purposely switched the game between all difficulties and it works equally bad on all of them.
The only sequences that are at least a little interesting are with Joseph Seed.
However, just as I hadn't the slightest desire to stay with the game longer than absolutely necessary, I have no interest in staying with this review for long.
I rate it 4/10.
