  1. There’s nothing that Bomberman Max 2 does wrong, its just that we’ve all seen it before so many times that it’s starting to get stale.
  2. The single-player game sticks closely to the tried and true Bomberman action we have come to know while not relying too much on the involvement of the Pokémonesque charabom characters (that were introduced in the original versions last year) to create a surprisingly good handheld title.
  3. Game Informer
The single player quest is a tad tedious, but still entertaining. A good buy. [August 2002, p.91]
  4. 75
The action might be a little too slow-paced for some...and the unfair elements, like the hidden death spots, are a little too much to ignore.
  5. Nintendo Power
Each version features a unique ending and varying objectives for the game's 100 areas. [Apr 2002, p.152]
  6. A fun adventure game with a decent collecting aspect and a few fun minigames. But compared with meatier strategy RPGs, like Pokémon or Robopon 2, it is difficult to imagine the game keeping anyone's interest over the long term.
  7. Just isn't a very enthralling game.
