The game is low res all the way. The only saving grace is the engine which is exceptionally well designed. Controls are responsive and the animation is great.
This sequel is a very satisfying fighter with some great ideas implemented, and we'd love to see the franchise return a third time...but in a Game Boy Advance native mode. What say you, Bandai?

Despite the good points, playing Bandai's latest Digimon videogame incarnation disappoints on too many levels to be considered a must buy. The long-term replay value is quite limited, with the exception of the expensive two-player option.
While DBS2 does an admirable job of capturing the platform jumping and heated brawling of Nintendo's more famous franchise, the game still falls flat. [Oct 2003, p.80]
