The game is so inventive and absorbing that it might just justify that GB Micro purchase-- unless you get the Famicom version, because that really justifies itself, doesn't it?
Any way you look at it Drill Dozer is an amazing piece of software. Although Drill Dozer looks like it has taken some cues from some of the best 2D games in history, it still manages to create a style of its own.
One of the last hurrahs for the GBA, and it's fittingly fun. Hugely enjoyable while it lasts. [Mar 2007, p.74]
An incredibly solid platformer that'll probably go unnoticed and can quite possibly be a favorite when it comes to mentioning the year's most underrated titles.
The gameplay is like nothing before it, and the graphical and audio design help to create a world different from any other game on the system.
If you are a fan of platformers, and want to experience it with a drilling machine, this unique game will please 2D fans. Just expect to be let down in the replay value and sound department.
It's an enjoyable game that I'm glad that I own, but it didn't impress me enough that I felt the need to gush all over it. But kudos to Game Freak for coming up with something fresh in the platform genre, as simply conking bad guys on the head was getting tired.
