Not for the challenge-impaired or easily frustrated, Driven will definitely teach you more respect for what it takes to be a real race driver.
Not quite an ambitious failure, and not a qualified success either, the game pays the price for falling between the stools of arcade adventurousness and simulation seriousness.
When it comes down to it all, the game plays true to the film. Boring, clichéd, sometimes grimace inducing and deeply, deeply average.
Driving is surprisingly manageable for an open-wheel racer, and that could get your engine running if you're a car buff or arcade racing fan. [May 2002, p.132]
Driven's acceleration feels sluggish as it tries to drag the combined weight of unresponsive AI, strange physics, overly unforgiving challenges and pedestrian multiplayer modes.
