  1. The best game on GameCube by far and one of the best games ever, in my opinion. It's a must-own for any action game fan. [Grade = A+]
  2. They made the game much smoother in the gameplay department, the PS-X version's biggest weaknesses.
  3. Yes, it is both brief and linear in nature, but the story is presented with such a brilliant combination of style and substance that you'll want to come back and experience it over and over again.
  4. But with each new feature comes a downside: First-person aiming makes regular combat easier...but it also makes boss battles far too easy; the new cut-scenes are brilliantly produced...when they're not overdosing on painfully cliched bullet-time effects; and the graphical overhaul is nice...but we know GameCube is capable of better. [Apr 2004, p.126]
  5. The affect of aging on the game hasn’t exactly been akin to that of a fine wine, but the assortment of improvements made to it are reason enough to play through the game all over again.
  6. The flashy, all-new cutscenes actually distract from the game's innovation: the emphasis on artificial intelligence over player progress.
  7. I hate to say it, but this latest Metal Gear Solid isn’t just painful to play in a stealth-action sort of way, it’s painful to play in a bad game sort of way.

ItThis game is possibly, one of the best games ever made for Nintendo GameCube system. A great remake of a great Sony PlayStation classic. It has grate gameplay, as well as a well polished interface, intense cut sequences, and all the things you wish you had in the original, including new weapons and the dog tag system from Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty. All-in-all, it's easier and has better graphics then the original for the Sony PlayStation, and I've played both. If you want to play the first Metal Gear Solid I recommend this. Expand

The GameCube graphics look fantastic for a remake of MGS1. The game takes the gameplay from MGS2 and adds it to MGS1. The new gameplay makes guards tougher to deal with than in the original as the guards can hear better, see better, and I believe are over all tougher. The cutscenes look great and have lots of dramatic slowdown and bullet time which I am perfectly fine with as Hideo Kohima wanted the original game to be like an Anime. Great game and easy to pick up and play. Expand

When I turned this game on from that moment on I new it was going to be good. Its gameplay was a little difficult at first. When I got a gun though, I was unstoppable. The videos in this game are great, the battle scenes resemble somethings you'd see in the matrix, I just wished it were a little longer. They still had that classic match with Psyco Mantis, and oh yeah, its a rated M game on the game cube, which is very rare to be seen, so of course if you like to see blood and hear vulgar language but have only game with Mario and Link in them, then this game has the kick ass action that you need. The Twin Snakes was a great way to port over a classic with a new edition to the Gamecube.
