To match such thrill-a-minute environments, the level design, puzzles, and boss fights are all insanely original.

Nothing comes close to the feeling you get when the Eznite shuts down your systems for the first time and you have to reboot.
  3. It's not dramatically different from the original but, man, is it fun. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is a title every GameCube owning shooter fan should have.
  4. The Dark Aether parts of the game added quite a bit of backtracking and mapping which really took me out of the experience more than I'd have liked. Still, the game is better than almost any other released this year, so it's definitely worth picking up.
  5. The great graphics, excellent gameplay and intriguing story line will have gamers glued to their GameCube for hours.
  6. Features a lot more action, is much more story driven, has better graphics and sound, and the game is a lot harder than its predecessor was.
  7. The constant scanning slows down the game, and the generic soundtrack does little to create any drama. But Metroid fans just want to play as Samus. And what's thrilling for those folks is the multiplayer action.

However, the main game... is unbelievably good. The atmosphere is without equal. The world you have to explore is just so incredibly well designed that you can spend hours wandering the lush forests or the dry arid lands looking for those last few items. The balance of difficulty might put some people off, but if you can overcome the harder bosses you will find a game that gives you an excellent single player experience. Expand

The best game for the Gamecube but the only drawback are the save points are hard to find when you need it.

In my opinion, this is easily the best Metroid prime game. I honestly do not understand why some others think so negatively of this gameIn my opinion, this is easily the best Metroid prime game. I honestly do not understand why some others think so negatively of this game compared to the first one when in my opinion, Metroid Prime 2 improves on almost every aspect of the first game. First of all, the story is better. The luminoth make for a interesting new addition to the Metroid franchise, and give Samus a interesting new enemy to fight, instead of just making us fight Ridley for the hundredth time. The second thing that is better is the gameplay. The combat feels so much better designed for the gamecube controller, and fights are more focused. I also love the new light world and dark world mechanic because it makes for some very interesting puzzles. One thing that I personally think makes the game better is that it is much harder than the first game. However, I can understand how this may not be a positive for some people. The boss fights are also way better. They are much longer and have cooler objectives. The last thing I think the game does better is the world. I can understand why someone would like the world better in Prime 1, but I think that Torvis Bog, and especially Sanctuary Fortress, are 2 of the most unique locations in the entire series. Agon Wastes is meh, but you rant there for a super long time and I think the other 2 locations make up for it. This one thing that I think this game doesn't do as good as the first game is the soundtrack. Prime 2 has some killer songs but they just don't hold a candle to the songs in the first game. Overall, I think that this game is much better than the original, and its a shame that it gets overlooked so often. If you have played the first Metroid Prime, then this game is a must play. Expand
