  1. Game Informer

Great greaphics, good sound, creative level design, tons of extra features, and a perfectly paced ramp-up of difficulty. [Dec 2002, p.130]
  2. Short, but completing the game 100% was a challenge and the arcade mode was good as well.
  3. As for the controls, the camera itself caused some goof ups here and there.
  4. An extremely unoriginal game with low replay value and barely tolerable sound quality.

I liked Zapper for its utterly old-school approach to simplicity and twitch-based gameplay, even it if could have been a little better on all fronts. [Nov 2002, p.92]
  6. Nintendo Power

The basic game play is similar to that of the games in the "Frogger" series. [Feb 2003, p.157]
  7. No fun. For one, its concept is utterly ridiculous and it might more exciting to collect bugs than to play as one. Secondly, the gameplay is very tedious and is not fun at all because of the grid-like pattern the stages are arranged in.
  8. A very bland and unremarkable game plagued by poor control and design.

As much as I wanted to love Zapper, I just couldn't allow myself to become addicted to any of the fun elements it had to offer.
  10. Where Frogger is simplistic fun, Zapper uneccessarily complicates the gameplay with tedious item collecting and backtracking.
  11. This cricket doesn’t ever get off the ground.
  12. Cheat Code Central

There is no doubt that it gets challenging near the end but you should be able to breeze through most of the levels in a day.
  13. It’s gameplay is simplistic while still offering challenges and rewards that will keep kids interested beyond the Story mode. [Score for Kids = 80]
