Headmaster is so much more than what it might appear to be, and it’s one of the biggest surprises for me coming out of the PlayStation VR’s launch. It’s creative, funny, and provides a perfect example of what VR could bring to the table, while also being far more than just a VR tech demo.
It took me ages to even play the demo, I'd written this game off as rubbish. My mistake. I really don't like football, but this is more like Portal than Fifa. It's great, sinister and completely insane. Highly recommend.
For as frustrating as failure can be, though, I still greatly enjoy this game and what it's going for. I want to stick it out. Headmaster seems to be flying under the radar as a launch-window PlayStation VR title, but it's one of the most novel experiences out there and decidedly worth trying.
Headmaster is a title that is perfect for showcasing the PSVR headset. The gameplay is accessible for everyone, with an activity that the majority of people that would be familiar with, and has a dry sense of humour throughout. If you’re looking for a simple game to play with the PSVR then Headmaster is for you.
I actually am not a sports person in any way but a friend showed me Headmaster and it was not only hilarious but super fun to play. The action of heading the ball takes a little getting used to if you've never played soccer (I have not) but it gets very addictive to see what the next insane level is. We stayed up way too late advancing further into the game and the story gets BONKERS. Highly recommended from this non-sports gamer.
If you love playing football you will not only love Headmaster but appreciate just how accurate a recreation of heading it captures. It takes that skill and throws you into a dark humoured carnival of mini games which get progressively harder prolonging longevity. A clear and fair points system rewards skill and patience whilst promoting competition among friends. The perfect party or solo launch game for PSVR. The technology creates all of the atmosphere and illusion that you are alone, on a full size pitch heading real balls into a full size goal. It is so accurate that mistakes always feel a fault of the player and never the game. Perfect use of VR and a cracking launch title.
You bounce soccer balls off your head across dozens of different scenarios, and a clever, mysterious narrative ties the whole package together. Also features trade-off multiplayer options for party play. One of the PSVR's sleeper hits.
PS4 VR Review: The combination of a enjoyable game mixed with good graphics and a very dark and wonderful humour is so much fun even down to the magical clipboard plonking itself in front of you, every part of the game has its own personality. You won't regret owning this game and since its initial launch they have added a few extra levels.
SummaryPractice Zone 1.0 - An oft-requested feature since Headmaster's launch has been a mode where players can work on their heading skills with unlimited chances and no pressure to win. We've built this and also added motion trails to the balls (similar to Angry Birds) so players can hone in on targets.
