I bought this game a while ago ... forgot I even had it. I have been playing Elden Ring for the last 2 years haven't had any desire to play any other game. I found it in my desk drawer and was like meh why not?!! It has been 3 days and I have put 22 hours in. I just beat **** developers were on to something with this bad boy. I have played just about every souls ripoff out there. This one is by far the best. I have no idea why it is not appreciated. It is in my opinion a 10 out of 10. THIS GAME HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM ONLINE PURCHASES Absolute gem!!!!!!!. I have beaten all of them from code vein to salt and santuary . I know these soul ripoffs have balancing issues and areas that are just unfair and dumb. After the 2nd area not so much. No guides or youtube to help so if you need your hand held dont bother. If you enjoy single player action rpgs that will challenge your button mashing skills get this game before it disappears.
I have a feeling this game will be on ebay for a stupid amount of money one day
I am 30 hours in and I think hit 60% of the game. It is a "AA" title, so in the end just 30 devs were working on it and yes you see it in the graphics, but it's still good looking and VERY athmospheric. Gameplay is "Demon's Souls with guns" set in a Scifi setting - I love it, looks awesome and the fights are very difficult what I like. Most bad reviews talk about the technical flaws - look behind it and enjy one oft the best game since years.
Although I’m a huge fan of shooters, I had to force myself to play Immortal: Unchained. The game clumsily tries to marry two formulas: an action game built around firearms and a soulslike. It does some things right – the atmosphere is intriguing, the dismemberment system works fine, boss encounters are done well and the character development system is solid – but it failed in the most important aspect. Immortal’s cardinal sin is its mediocre gunplay, which makes shooting boring and therefore turns firefights into drudgery. [12/2018, p.54]
Immortal Unchained could have been a great attempt to get its name between action-RPG’s as Dark Souls and The Surge. However, adding guns to the well-known formula didn't save the game from having way too many technical and balance problems during release.
Immortal: Unchained isn’t inherently an awful game, but it has very little going in its favour. Its level design is one shining beacon among a sea of bang average gameplay, unacceptable technical flaws, and a combat system that does little to distinguish itself from its inspirations. Those enamoured with the Souls formula may discover something to like, but they’ll have to sort through a mountain of mediocrity to find it.
Immortal’s pursuit of the hardcore label speaks to a certain presumptiveness in its design – that its impenetrable nature will be offset by a community looking for new challenges to overcome and new mysteries to unravel. Dark Souls got away with that approach because every aspect of it was so meticulously fine-tuned. Immortal’s extreme difficulty only highlights how fundamentally its ideas don’t run together. If there’s anything worse than a bad game, it’s a hostile bad game.
Love the game! Put about 14 hours into it so far and it sure gets challanging further in and I love it for that reason. Further game modes and bugfix patches has been annonced by the developer and I'm looking forward for this.
The more you advance in the game, the more you discover how many bugs it has and how unfair it can be. Die hard Souls fan here and I know how to differentiate difficulty and bad design. If you want to avoid being disappointed with another Souls wannabe (is this you Lords of The Fallen?) drop immediately all your hope to play a good Souls-like game.
A dark souls with guns sounded like a good idea, but this is not how you do it.
It feels clunky to play, story is utter nonsense that tries to be way too clever for its own good, but keeps tripping over itself.
Its biggest flaw, is that it is just plain boring. I had to force myself to finish it, hoping for some form of resolution but instead the ending felt like a slap in the face. It just hurts to play.
Skip this one, you'll thank yourself later.
SummaryYou are a living weapon. Unwillingly unchained by the Warden, the player's skills are put to the test, given only the instruction that they must stop the end of the world. With a story the player must piece together themselves, the central character sets off with no memory of their past.
